Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Well, Google Earth has a better picture of my house than Virtual Earth. I have noticed that big cities have great detail, smaller "less important" areas have much poorer detail. The blank area to the right is the ship channel - too bad there were no ships when the image was taken. The whitish area in my back yard against the seawall is my retaining wall project - the picture was taken right after the sand was delivered last year.

The blue roofs are tarps covering hurricane Rita damaged homes. 40% of residents here did not have insurance :(

thanks robert

When I click on what you just posted, I get the wavy 4-part flag, then a bar for what and a bar for where. The rest of the page is blank. Must not be set up to receive. Feel free to find me and post it. There is only one residence; the closest structure to me is a white blgd, the Hamburg town and beach center.

Thar She blows, Moby, you sure did ! You got a hundred.

Thank You so much, but the garage is full of automatics and tt's, the wringers being confined to the basement. YAY for Robert, the techno Wizard. XXOO

Here's one for the Physicists

If the maps are live, when Robert found me, it was 10 o'clock here, pitch dark, but only 9 o'clock in Minneapolis, and still daylight. His pic of my house shows broad daylight, at a little before 9, his time; yet, this place was in utter darkness when he took the picture. If I try to figure that out, I'll blow all of my my fuses, and become a mass of jello. Any physicists about?

The pictures are not live. They could be days, weeks, months, or years old. As the satellites pass over they snap pictures of any given area. It may take hundreds or thousands of pictures just to piece together a complete picture of just the USA like a patchwork quilt so it looks like they're starting with the big cities first. Then they do the same as they pass over other countries as they circle round the globe.

This is too much fun

I am having too much fun with this!

=(( Robert, Minneapolis looks just gorgeous! reminds me alot of Long Island where I grew up..

I recognize that mall, Robert! It's the Shops At Lyndale off 494, right? I spend a fair amount of time at the Border's book store. Oh, and the Don Pablo's Mexican restaurant in the center of the photo. That strip does have an awesome Best Buy, too, no doubt about it.

Historical...

Because Microsoft Virtual Earth is not including Amsterdam yet, I have looked further in the municipal picture archives and found this. This is from 1970:

A dark past...

While browsing the municipal archive I also found this (my house is at the end of the street). The picture is from 1943 and note the signs on both sides that designate the street as Jewish territory. During the German terror Jews were forced to live here before they were transported to the concentration camps to be murdered...
