Hey guys, has anybody tried Finish Ultimate? What do you think? I must say as a Cascade fan, they work better than my beloved Cascade Platinum Plus which does a great job also. One thing I've noticed is that the ultimate pods suds less, and they look different unlike anything I've ever seen. I wonder if Finish Ultimate has more ingredients than Cascade Platinum Plus. They do smell fresh, as much as I like the mountain scent in the Cascade. What do you like or dislike about them?[this post was last edited: 11/18/2023-13:44]

Have tried both, and many of finishes other tabs.
keep going back to cascade powder, nothing else seems to work as well.

I've used the UK version of Finish Ultimate, and it's good, but Fairy platinum Plus cleans a bit better. Probably different formulations for the UK market though. Used to get great results from the cheap Lidl and Aldi own brand tablets before phosphates were phased out, whatever water softener agent they replaced the phosphates with was pretty useless in our very hard water.

Pretty much a confirmed Cascade P+ user, but Kroger had a pack of Finish Ultimate on sale for $4.99, decided it was worth a try. All in all, not bad. Dishes felt a bit slicker, like they added more rinse aid.  I'd have no issues using these but not any reason to switch from cascade. I buy a big tub at Sam's that last me 9 or 10 months for $19

Finish Ultimate Vs Cascade Platinum Plus

I too am a Cascade Platinum Plus user, and I prefer the mountain scent. As for Finish Ultimate, they do a decent job. Maybe I'll switch between the 2, but always come back to Cascade. I think Finish may be more harsh than Cascade because of the different additives. I do notice my racks barely showing signs of wear in my dishwasher, barely even noticeable. Nevertheless, it still holds up well in my Bosch. Excuse me, Kenmore. The Cascade has more of a waterfall mountain scent, while Finish has more of a shampoo or bubble bath scent, or a very strong detergent with tea. What do you describe the scents as?[this post was last edited: 11/24/2023-01:03]

Finished with Finish-

Been using Finish the past few days and for the first time in ages I took out dishes with food still on them.  That and the fact I find the dishes too slippery I'm back to Cascade.

When I used some Finish detergent before, I wasn't all that impressed. I did remember it left some water marks on the glasses. I like Cascade better. Kirkland does the best job for me.

Smells...

What do you think of the smells between the 2 detergents. The Cascade I currently have has a light, crisp, fresh waterfall scent to it. Finish smells like an artificial tea with chemicals in it. I have super dirty dishes in there, probably the toughest test I've done yet. I accidently dumped some soup into the dishwasher. No harm, no foul. It was a shrimp bisque. I'm running mine with Finish Ultimate tonight.

scent

I care about scent because I not only want the dishwasher to smell fresh, but the kitchen as well. To me, it just adds a whole new dimension. There's nothing like a dishwasher detergent that freshens the dishwasher and the kitchen it's in. I don't have an issue with detergent taste or smell on dishes. Usually it Dissipates when they're put away.

Considering the large amounts of potentially toxic scent chemicals released into the environment just for a very brief moment of happiness and pleasure when a fragrant cloud of steam hits your face as you open the DW door after a cycle finished it seems irresponsible that scented DW detergents exist in the first place.

On the other hand scents are somehow connected to feelings and emotions in our brains so why not just let those who are into scented products enjoy their scents?
As long as those products are legally on the market I would also opt for nicely scented ones just for the fun of it. Not a huge fan of Finish products though.

reasons for scent

I agree. There are reasons why dishwasher detergents and rinse aids have scent. For most like myself, it is associated with cleanliness. Others may be wanting to go back to their memories. There are definitely detergents do take me back to memory lane, like Cascade Complete in the citrus breeze scent, and so does Finish Ultimate.

I've only had 3 dishwashers in my life and have mostly stuck with Cascade and Electrosol when it was still around before getting absorbed by Finish.

I've found great cleaning with just Cascade complete powder with my current GE portable dishwasher.

I'll say this though that this GE cleans better in the top rack with things such as a glass baking dish with burned on food than the whirlpool ever did.

I am majorly impressed by the cleaning power of this machine. It has a few quirks but I've learned to adjust to them and everything is fine.

As long as the Cascade complete powder does the job I'm happy.
