Haven't been here for quite some time. Well we just bought fleecy fabric softener. I haven't used any fabric softener for 5 years, and before that it was always dryer sheets. I remember my grandma using downy in the maytag washer. Made the whole house smell good. What are the best smelling softeners? I like this fleecy, but wish I knew the other common scent I always smell in grocery stores and as people walk by. I think it is downy. I always walk down the detergent/softener isle just because it smells so good. What other softeners do people here use?

Yes, i'm almost positive it was downy april fresh. I think I will get that when the fleecy runs out, i'll try a few different ones.

Fabric softeners...

Kurt, I remember you from the long-gone Ivacuumcleaners.com forum. Didn't realize you were into washers as well; neat!

I use Purex and Gain dryer sheets, sometimes Downy. The '86 Westy never had a fabric softener dispenser although we sometimes manually added liquid to it. The '96 "plastic GE" and DD Kenmore had FS dispensers; both were removeable but the one on the DD Kenmore basically fit over the agitator and locked into place with a ring. I still have the DD Kenmore (although I'm not currently using it), however, I recently put a DD Surgilator in it, and the Dual-Action's FS dispenser won't fit...

The current 2003 Maytag with the "orbital" tranny and turquoise Power-Fin (wanted to trick that machine out as well) of course has an FS dispenser, maybe I should try liquid just for fun. Although IMHO, dryer sheets aren't as messy; just toss one in, and when the load's done simply throw it away! No gunk to have to clean out of the agitator.

Yeah, that's the only thing about the liquid, i'm guessing in a few months there will be a build up. Oh well, just an excuse to take the agitator off! The KM DD is holding up great. It gets quite the work out, fluffy king size bed spread every 2-4 weeks. Plus I am not very "kind" with my load sizes. I decided to check the coupler about a month ago, still looks new! Maytag dryer still plugging away. The FS dispensor on the DD is the removable locking ring type. Works quite well.
I remember i-vacuumcleaners, and I was on vacweb for the longest time. Too bad those forums went to crap, they were fun. The vacuum interest has faded a fair bit for me.
