It's that time of the year.  The basement is full yet AGAIN and stuff needs to find a new home.  I'll add some more items once they have received some needed attention.  Send me a PM if you're interested in something.  Shoot me an offer, I won't be offended. 

 

First off - I picked up this MINTY late 60's Westinghouse portable dishwasher earlier this summer.  The seller claimed it was never used (it was her boyfriend's parents), but let the shine of the interior tell the tale.  The only unfortunate part is the seller tried to clean the panel and wiped away some of the paint finish just minutes prior to me picking it up.  ARG!  Here are some photos.  $50 OBO.

Next up - a 1959 Custom Imperial Frigidaire range.  I was told by the sellers that everything worked.  It was in their house when they bought it in the early 80's (the matching fridge was there at the time too!).  The original home owner was a Frigidaire dealer in Rochester, MN.  They mentioned that everything worked, so I'll pass along their guidance as I have not had the opportunity to power this beauty up.  The speed heat burner appears to be in place, and the Heat Minder was converted at some point. 

 

Again, it isn't perfect, but I hope it finds a good home.  Asking price - 125 OBO.  I'm flexible on this one.

Lastly - this beautiful '62 Frigidaire Imperial dryer.  It came from a friend locally.  I've bought some parts for it in case of anything in the future (element, motor, timer motor from a later flowing heat dryer).  It runs beautifully but the timer motor is shot.  I was planning on replacing the timer motor from the spare I picked up.  I've got $25 bucks in it for parts, shoot me an offer.

Hi Ben, nice machines! Can you tell me what the purpose is of the orange air-vent attached to the pump? The dishwasher is really nice; a funky seventies design esthetic! Did you have a chance to use it as a daily driver? What are your impressions of its performance?

That dryer is similar to my parents set. They had the Custom Imperial. One of the most beautiful WD sets ever made. They don't come up for sale very often and right now we are watching our money. Shoot. Is that an electric dryer?

Ben, before you sell the range, can you tell me how the pull-n-clean oven works on this one. Does the broil elements get out with the oven liner when you pull on it (I mean unlike newer ones that are fixed)?

1959 was the first year of the Pull-n-Clean oven liner.  Only the large (right hand) oven had this feature.  The broil element AND the bake element stayed in the liner when you pulled it out. Starting in 1960 the broil element stayed in the oven when you pulled the liner and the dual oven model also had the pull and clean on the smaller (left hand) oven.  This had the added advantage of allowing you to clean much of the oven from the large opening in the top!

Westingouse dishwasher orange air-vent

This is an air circulation system used during the drying cycle. The pump will continue to run through the dry cycle and draw air into the tub and out of the vent in the toe panel. This is probably the best proof one can have of a 'true' Westinghouse dishwasher of this era because I believe WCI discontinued this when they took over the Westinghouse brand in the mid-70s.

I've never powered up the Westy dishwasher, as I wanted the future owner to pop the potential newness cherry. As Paul mentioned, this is a true blooded Westinghouse design before WCI got their fingers on it.

The dryer is an electric model.
