Aurora Borealis

All while moving down the thread, I wondered where are the lights located, and then, wouldn't it be nice to see them lit, and then Good Lord, look at all those flashy, multiple, trendy colors IN 1955!!!!, no less. Amazing, really. Thanks for the Miracle of the Lights, such an unexpected surprise. Around here, it never ends.

Hey Will!

I have a very similar Philco Automatic on my porch, awaiting a paint job. Yours is a delight.

Now, sir, WHERE did you procure that vent hood? I've been searching for a Vent-A-Hood in white forever. Now I have another option. Your kitchen is eye candy.

Too cool!!

Will, that is a real beauty! Congratulations!! Thanks for the 'lighted dial' pictures - nothing says 'vintage' more than a light-up control or timer dial!!

Thanks everyone. The first load came out spotless. I look forward to using it more in the future.

Keith, The vent hood (1955 Nutone) actually was rescued from the side of the road. The motor unfortunately was burnt up, but I salvaged the shell and with the help of Dave, Volvoguy87, we mounted it and used the guts from a 1980s unit found at the restore. Works like a charm and has the correct look for the kitchen. I'd originally planned on having it painted, in close up it has several fine scratches in the copper, but I liked the look so much that I decided to keep the patina look. :)

It's amazing how much vintage changes the look...

The kitchen has come along way since 2007. My house was sadly flipped and updated in the 3 months of me taking ownership. They ripped out the original pink bathroom, yellow cracked ice counter-tops, part of the original knotty pine cabinets, and some groovy green and yellow flooring in the kitchen. I can't wait until my budget allows me to redo the counters and floor in the kitchen. It's going to look just 'marvie.'
