Pardon me for breaking my own rules about where to post stuff, I'll consider this post "loosely" website related. I wanted to get the word out to as many people here as possible.

For some time I've been slowly creating a new social networking website for us gay men. It's called friendsandhusbands.org. I'm officially opening it up to everyone today. We went live with the site late last night and it is still in test mode but it now seems to be working well enough to let anyone who wishes to use it try it out.

My initial ideas for this site are to combine some of the popular features of social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, with additional communication tools of a strong web-forum (like aw and vacuumland) and many of the playful profile features of the numerous gay hookup sites. The social networking sites are great for keeping in touch with people you already know. We know the hookup sites are great for meeting new people, but most guys on those sites are generally interested only in one thing. This site will not only allow a member to meet new people and see what others looks like (via their pictures), but will also allow one to read what they have written over recent time. We all know when we think a guy is hot in a photo, but it would also be nice to know a bit about their likes, dislikes, personality traits, political views, sense of humor, hobbies, how they interact with others, etc. Using both written words and images can go a long way into learning about someone well in advance of anything further.

I'm hoping to target this site at least at first to collectors and hobbyists of all kind be it vacuums, washers, cars, stamps, dishes it doesn't really matter. I'm thinking it would be great to have a place outside of our regular hobby sites to let our hair down so to speak and meet like minded people.

So if you wish register/set up a profile and check the site out.

Just signed up, too. Looks like it might just be my new favorite site (next to Automatic Washer, of course).

Thanks, Robert.

I'm having trouble :(

I registered and activated my account, but when I sign in it says I'm entering either the wrong username or password. And I entered it exactly as it showed when I clicked the link from the email.
