Swoon!

OMG!! I simply must have that dishwasher!! I know they were oddballs and didn't really wash that well, but...

I'm going to contact the seller and put out my feelers to find someone who may be able to transport this.

Ken, I never thought I'd see one of these for sale again - that means there's an Empress out there with your name on it.

I spy turquoise countertops, too, Paul - you might be able to get a deal on the package!

The DW looks similar to the one that shows up as a POD, with the cat on the counter and proclaiming how quiet the DW is.

This DW shows the difference between a work horse and a show horse. It was beautiful in those ads, but I think the cabinets and countertop had a lot to do with that.

I still remember that morning when we hooked one up in John's laundry room and he brought down the dinner dishes. It did move some smashed potatoes from a plate to the inner door. It was such a disappointment that he decided it was not even going to be kept for the collection, even though it looked unused. We found out why it looked unused.

Good and good.

I do hope someone gets this machine. For curiosity alone I can't wait to see detailed pictures of everything inside and out. And once again, I have to point out that for customers like me sainted Mother, this dishwasher would have worked because she hand-washed everything before putting it into the machine.

It certainly does LOOK nice. Personally, thats all I expect anyway.

It just depends on what your needs are with vintage stuff.

I'd save the door, access panel, and kick space cover, and discard the rest. Then mount the 3 pieces as they were, so you have the beauty, yet it takes up nearly no space.

Could that be a Reversa-A-Jet?

As excited as we all are over the possibility -- I think I see Reversa-A-Jet on the left side of the console. Our neighbors had one and I thought someone here said it somehow wound up as it spun one way (with something like a rubber band) and then spun the other way.

I recall our neighbors looked exactly like this one only hers was Coppertone. I know it had a wash arm because I remember wondering what made it go the other way.

Cool Dw

I had contacted the seller before I saw the post here, I do believe that this machine is quite a few years newer than 1959, more like 1963-6 and it probably has a lower wash arm not the revolving drum wash system. Tappan did not keep the revolving drum wash system long as it was a complete disaster, I dough they ever had a single satisfied customer other than the wife of the company president, LOL.

As Tom and I found out the revolving drum wash system probably made more dishes dirty than it ever cleaned, Yes Ken even if your Mother rinsed and washed every trace of food off the dishes before loading them this DW would likely leave traces of something on the dishes afterwards.

It would seem that with the Reverse-A-Jet system, the Thundering Thermador has met its match at the very least, and quite possibly lost the spot in the bilge where it had comfortably settled into its well-deserved exile.

Lovely to look at

A sight to behold

But if you should use it

Don't say you weren't told
