Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I've noticed in past advertising for numerous soaps and detergents, not a single one mentioned using their product in a Frigidaire.

As stated in the Tide ad's, "25 leading washer makers approve of Tide and pack a box in their washers". Again, Frigidaire wasn't mentioned.

I wonder what the deal was on that?

Sudsy Washes

I believe the reason P&G's Tide was never mentioned as being sampled in Frigidaire's is because of all the suds it made. I didn't use Tide, but once used Canadian ABC detergent in my 1-18 Frigie, and it made "oceans of suds"! During that one-time-only use, I stopped the machine for a half-hour after the wash agitation to let the suds dissipate. I continued using All, Dash and Amway SA8 Plus, all low-sudsers with phosphates and great performers, despite containing no enzymes. I did also use Wisk Power Scoop & Fab Ultra powders which contained phosphates, once they came out. I still have two brand-new unused boxes of the 10%+ phosphate Fab.

No I disagree, Frigidaire washers made at that time handled large amount of suds better than any other automatic washer. I suspect GM was not interested in teaming up with any detergent maker. Frigidaire washers never came packed with detergent of any kind in the 50's.
