In the redish/orange bottle.

Local supermarket informed me eariler this week the product was being discontinued by the manufacturer.

As one was looking for detergents to use in my Whirlpool top loader, nabbed the remaining few bottles since they were marked down to half off each.

Have heard good things about this detergent for washing colours and for things that bleed. Did a few loads over the weekend and must say this Woolite cleans well, and though prefer unscented products, the light citrus scent didn't offend my nose too much.

IIRC, this particular Woolite's claim to fame is it contains "dye magnets" that supposedly trap loose dyes in the wash water so they do not deposit on other laundry. We shall see about that later.

Woolite Dark vs Woolite colors

indeed both of them work great ; even with 140°F water dark clothes don't fade at all

Actually what's the difference Colors vs Darks formulas ?

The version for dark colors/blacks contain no optical brighteners, which can make dark colors appear dusty or faded.

My mom used Woolite a lot in the 1960's and '70s. I use Woolite for Dark Colors on my many loads of black clothes. I wear black and dark colors a lot.

Hope they're not discontinuing that one, as well!

The only Woolite I have been able to find in the HE version is the All Fabric. Regular Woolite is too sudsy for a HE machine, but I have used it in the delicate and hand was cycle as it uses more water and less tumbling. Still gets a little sudsy, but seemed to rinse OK.

The Darks is great because it doesn't contain brightners the colors don't look bleached out.

I never could figure it out.

Woolite for colors, Woolite for dark colors, Woolite regular. I love WOOLITE! The old fashioned Woolite works great for colors, dark colors, and everything else! My colors don't bleed, my dark clothes look great, and it cleans well. What more can you ask??????????????

What more can you ask?

How about that they not discontinue it?

It seems like every time we find something which just plain works, the company either adds so much stink to it we swoon or they "verschlimmbessern" it (a wonderful German word we really could use in English - means to pretend to improve while really making worse).

Or, they drop it.

Woolite, at least here in Germany, for a while did an all-but silk and wool-fabric detergent with bleaches that only activated above 50°C and no brighteners. It worked - colors came clean without fading and stuff you could wash in warmer water got bleached. Of course, it was just recycling an older oxygen bleach technology now seen as obsolete, but I liked the idea.
