For Tim and Mark and other Sudzees: More 806 S & WO 65 - 2 Fun. And Some Creaming for Kelly

Tim Polkanut inspired me to actually USE the Suds return and not just play with it. So this new desire, along with the fact that if you like to wash and wash a lot, then small and medium loads satisfy swimmingly; but sometimes you've just got to go big. There is no other way.

So I washed my first Large load in the Maytag last week, but got carried away with the Whirlpool DW, and then Robert's and Greg's diamond finds, forgetting all about these pics and the story.

But there was a problem: How can I save 19 gallons of water, here in the garage where the Tag is, with no sinks/trays/tubs to hold all those sudsy liquors? Then it came to me: Use the 10 gallon Frigidaire, and let the other 9 gallons overflow in to the big WO cavern that holds God only knows how many gallons. Remember it's a big open box with a little tub in the middle. Check Robert's glass fronted Unimatic 2.0 to see its size. Maybe someone will find the reference and link it.

Here, then are the 19 gallons of washing liquors, draining out of the 806 with the Suds Save button pressed in, flowing and overflowing into the WO 65 - 2.

Note that the deck finally got painted lest Geraldine, were she able, push me off the cliff into the abyss.

Sudzee! Now I have a name for myself. Very nice. I have real suds machines, and machines I have converted to the faith.  It ain't for dog bedding or dirty rags, but suds saving work for 75% of my washing.

I anxiously await all your pics, sounds like you had fun. At one point, I had 3 suds models and a dull old regular in the line up, and every now and then, not often, I'd use the suds from the 1-18 into the tub, suck them up with the converted Maytag, then suck them up with the real suds Filter-Flo, then finally run them through the converted Whirlpool. My 3 god-children and my boyfriend had been here all thru a 3 day weekend, it was necessary and fun that once.

Everytime I see....

....your gorgeous deck and view on the water, with clothes lines - I am absolutely filled with awe. To do laundry and hang items on the line in your setting would be like going on a vacation for us clothesline/water-front/deck fanatics! Just wonderful. So glad for your new found Sudz systems. Your tempting me.

John, thanks so much. I love to share a life-long dream. You know, I almost didn't take the line down; it's green wire and blends right in. But the chorus would have blown me down had I left it up. So tempting.

Even with the large, wide 12 gallon inner tub replacement

And immensely over-sudsed, the cavernous W O outer cabinet still has room for dozens of gallons of water. We should guess how many, and then I'll flood the W O,
using 19 gallon batches of water from the 806 till the outer cabinet fills to the brim.

Art, last time I did it in a hurry, buying some cheap stuff from Walmart, it took two coats, and didn't hold up well. This time I bought some good stuff from Lowe's, Olympic Maximum, which they mixed from a big color chart, "Copper Henna." It covered in one coat, and Man, was that outer deck exposed to all the elements, nasty. Couldn't believe how well it covered.

Jon, I do the modified back stroke, kinda like making angel wings in the snow or rowing, plus a lot of agitation and spinning, playing washing machine sometimes, at 11;30, 2;30, 5, and 8 and weep elephant tears when the lake gets too cold.

Kelly, so nice to have you back to work in Imperial. You've got this bout licked, as usual. A Lake of Love to you, but we can't get to mushy here; it makes Mother General antsy. LOL

More pix later. Crazy here today. Obama came to talk about education, out biggest business here, at the University of Buffalo. Air Force I, and a massive Cargo plane delivering his million dollar black behemoth for his bus tour--everybody's Buzzin'! Where will he stop for lunch, OH MY!!! (chuckle).

I feel honored that I've inspired you to actually put your suds-saver option to practical use.  If you want to enhance your suds saving experience ala 1950's-1960's you could install a designated suds tub.  We use the one that came with our house.  I wish I'd known that the type in the link was available when we made our main floor laundry room. 

  Nothing beats the clang of a diverter valve @ 6:00am, and hanging laundry outside by 7am and hearing the birds in full chorus while doing it!  Pure laundry nirvana.

Mickeyd-- I once used a large, heavy duty industrial-strength plastic garbage can as a "sink" for a suds-saving '59 Lady Kenmore. I'd throw the leftover inch or two of water out the back door. Did that for over a year. A cheap, easy solution to not having a laundry tub.

Suds savers are such great fun. They were the first HE machines, to be sure.

Art, the mixing doesn't take long--just seconds by computer injection. Then, should you forget which among the dozens of shades you selected when you go back for the second can, the info is all on the computer generated tab they stick to the lid. The deck covered with a gallon and a half--ONE COAT !!! The really dehydrated outer area gulpingly sucked in the first gallon, while the larger inner part covered in only a half.

Eugene And Tim: Actually had a glass aquarium ready for the suds, but the hose had been cut a little short sometime in its history and wouldn't reach deep enough. Lost desire to use aquarium, So for a while, I was pumping fresh water into the machine from a tap fed kettle, finally finding a suds hose replacement. Then I used the Borg Warner Norge Conventional, but everything seemed to be getting in the way, so I'm pretty well set and satisfied with the already-in-place Frigidaire as reservoir. Also, do not yet have plumbing availability for the nice sink in your link. Thank You. The future will come, with the dream of a real studio with full plumbing, realized.

Eugene: HE, indeed! When my sister Lynn watched the Suds Return operation, it was only a few seconds before she said: "This is so green. Why aren't these being made for water comservation?"

I guess you could say I'm a laundry early bird.  I started doing the laundry @ 5:30 this morning w/ suds-saver in full use as usual, and had the bedsheets back on the bed by 7:30.  I have to use our 2 dryers today because of thunderstorms passing through.  The sound of the suds valve resounding through the house at that time of the morning is a beautiful sound.  Glad I inspired you.

Both Mary Wydro (shortened) and Bernice Osyndiak got up at 5 and 6 on Monday mornings to start the wash, almost a rule in Polish households. Some traditions last forever. How wonderful.

I have a confession here, Tim and friends. Since getting the 806, I have used it pretty much exclusively, and yesterday, while hanging the T-shirts and shaving towels, this thought came rushing in: you better start using the other machines again, lest you wear this one out, especially the suds valve with all your ceaseless clanging. Why don't you just get a bell. (Laughed at myself making fun of myself.) Sure, I'll get used to the 806 S soon enough and and return to the usual alternations in machine use. Want to have them all forever, like everybody else. Then in the midst of this reverie, I noticed something......

A personal finding on whites washed in original liquors--not returned suds: the Frigidaires are better at removing stain. It is either the gentler though faster agitation, or another factor that has not yet presented itself. The stains are always the same: berries, (now the blue), spaghetti sauce, wine, chocolate, Lately, have noticed very faint residuals that are rarely seen the Frigidaire way. This is only one man's experience in one man's laundry, and not a scientific finding by any means.
