When I was a child my Nan had a semi automatic toploader which had a sudsaver tank underneath. Basically you washed a load, the water drained into the tank and after spinning the load was removed and the next one washed. It was made by Burco. I have asked my Mum for more info on this machine but she has very hazy memory of it. I do remember my Nan getting rid of it as the lid had rusted and she couldn't get a repacement. Any UK guys have any info on this washer?

Hi Paul,
I know the machine you are on about. Burco basically re-badged the Parnall Spin washer and called it something like "Laundrair" I have a pic in one of the Creda brochure's from the mid 60's.
I am away next week, but as soon as i get back i will scan it for you and post to the club.
These machines are very rare, and doubt if there are any in exsistence now.
As with the Parnall (i have one of these) the water saving feature was great !!
Cheers
Keith

p.s

Do you have a picture of your Parnall washer to?

Also I remember seeing a Hotpoint semi auto toploader in a house clearance sale in the 90's. The old lady had had it from new ( he relations were unsure how long she had had it ). It also was a suds saver machine but did not have the "spiralator" agitator. The facia was navy blue with white dials, two I think. One for wash and rinse times and the other for spin and drain, again, I think thats what they were, was a longtime ago!

Thanks, Paul.
