...Those wooden cabinet German radios, other European ,Japanese... :)
The German ones seemed to first come our way about 1952 and always proper transformer power supply-sometimes tube rectification, sometimes flat-pack selenium bridge rectifier. Selector switches like to fall apart and spill tiny parts out bottom-this has 3 of my 4 Germans out of commision...a 1958 Blaupunkt is working-ready to play polka music :) A 1957 French radio is working, while a 1966 Yugoslavian EI radio awaits repair.
Japanese tube radios seemed to have started here around 1959-60 and usually cheapie series string all nippon 5s :) I have seen a few late '50s Japanese wooden cabinet similar to the German ones-transformer power supply and mini eye tube, but none have made it to collection yet.

I've restored many of those German/European radios for customers over the decades.
And I hated every one of them!
They're SO over-complicated in their chassis design, and difficult to work on.
Naturally, I charged a hefty fee for that work.
The worst ones were those large Saba monster sets with the huge speakers and motor-driven tuning and volume controls. - and wired remote controls.
They looked gorgeous though, but nevertheless, I'm glad to be retired now.
