I live in diverse Chicago and on the Southwest side our neighborhood has largely turned Polish.
.... That is a good thing since I am half Polish...

That being said, oddities show up at the store. Sometimes I really think I am in another country. It is fun...
They now stock Polish detergent. DETERGENT E !!
I don't understand a word of Polish. (OK, I know a few...)
But how do you handle such instructions like:
"Formula proszuku E standard zawiera skladniki zmiekczajace wode, ktore wspomagaja skuteczne szialanie proszku, nawet w niskich temeraturach."

Yeesh!
 
Polish Detergent

"Formula contains water softening ingredients which boosts the power of E laundry detergent, even in cold water"
E isn't a good detergent, it's considered as a rather bargain powder.
Most Poles I know use Persil or Ariel, IIRC. But it is manufactured in Poland, or at least was a couple of years ago.

Henkel to acquire Polish Laundry and Home Care brands from PZ Cussons

Henkel has signed an agreement with the UK-based consumer products company PZ Cussons Plc to acquire their Polish Laundry and Home Care brands. The transaction includes predominantly detergents and fabric softeners of the “E” brand, and other smaller brands. The business operates mainly in Poland but also includes activities in Russia and other Central Eastern European countries.

The acquisition is in line with Henkel’s global strategy to further develop its three business sectors and strengthens a key growth region of the Laundry & Home Care business. “The acquisition is a perfect fit with our existing business in the CEE region and will further strengthen our position in Poland and Russia, which are both attractive markets for Henkel and within our growth regions”, said Bruno Piacenza, Executive Vice President and responsible for Henkel’s Laundry & Home Care business.

In fiscal year 2012, the Laundry and Home Care brands to be acquired generated sales of around 60 million euros. The agreement on the sale was signed on February 20, 2013. The acquisition is subject to merger control clearance and is expected to be closed in the third quarter of 2013.

That also explains why the side panel of the box has instructions in Russian as well.
There are many other foreign products, including detergents, at that store. They used to carry Persil, but no longer. I'll see what else they carry.
In the meantime, I suppose I'll use the detergent to clean non-critical things like beach towels and wash rags.

It's very unfortunate since products manufactured for Eastern European market are of much worse quality. Finish is known for damaging glass (sand used as filler, many housewives turned against dishwashers in general because of that), and one could also smell and see the difference in laundry detergent while bottles and labels were the same; hence the popularity of 'german detergent' stores with products imported directly from Germany.
Henkel officially admitted those differences exist, claiming that Eastern European market is less demanding.
