So, apparently Texas has recently passed some laws/ordinances declaring that bars are "public places", so they can send the cops and arrest people for "public intoxication" inside the bars. That seems a little weird to me, if the patrons are not causing trouble, what's the big deal?

But that may have a good explanation, I don't know. Maybe something the locals over there know that I don't or we deal with it differently in other states, whatever.

What makes me go "WTF?" is that on June 28th, about 1 AM, the cops raided The Rainbow Lounge. If you lack a reference, here it is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots -- if they really had to complete the "alcohol inspection", as they claimed, couldn't they show up some other time (daytime, possibly no or fewer clients) or day? Seems fishy to me.

There's even a Facebook group about it (isn't that true for everything?), link below.

Did you read the official police report for this outrage? What a joke. It's been 40 years since Stonewall and Texas hasn't changed at all.

Just remember: when in Ft. Worth (not that anyone would intentionally travel to that city.. what a shithole!), better not look the wrong way at a police officer who's strolling through a gay bar. You'll immediately be branded "extremely intoxicated", he'll claim you were making "sexually explicit movements" toward him, and you'll be arrested for "public" "intoxication".

The 14th Amendment? Not in Ft. Worth.

Councilman Joel Burns Statement Concerning "Rainbow Lounge" Raid
On Thursday evening, June 6, 2009, a TABC Agent entered into NPD2 and teamed up with a patrol officer in order to conduct alcoholic beverage code inspections of area clubs. While they were out, they performed these inspections into the Friday morning hours. At approximately 10:00 p.m., Thursday evening, they stopped by the Rainbow Lounge located at 651 S. Jennings in anticipation of conducting an inspection as this club is newly opened and has not received an inspection before this date. While waiting on the supervisor to arrive, which is standard operating procedure, the owner of the Rainbow Lounge approached the officers asked if there was a problem. The TABC agent explained they were waiting on a patrol supervisor to make the scene before conducting an inspection of his establishment. An inspection at the Rainbow Lounge was not conducted on this date (Friday). Other locations, however, were inspected as a continuing effort to educate and enforce over serving alcohol to intoxicated individuals.

On Saturday morning, June 27, 2009, a person identifying himself as the owner of the Rainbow Lounge called the local police station and spoke with a supervisor to ascertain if there was a problem at the Rainbow Lounge. At approximately 3:30 p.m., a Fort Worth Police sergeant spoke with the owner of the Rainbow Lounge and explained they were conducting alcoholic beverage code inspections in the area. The owner advised the sergeant officers were welcome anytime to conduct an inspection of his establishment. The sergeant advised the owner of the Rainbow Lounge that officers would return to the area this evening to continue inspections and would inspect his establishment.

On Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, at 12:30 a.m., six (6) Fort Worth Police Officers, two (2) TABC agents and a supervisor conducted inspections at 160 W Rosedale (Rosedale Saloon and Cowboy Palace). This inspection resulted in nine (9) arrests. Once the inspection was completed at these locations, officers proceeded to the Rainbow Lounge.

Officers arrived at the Rainbow Lounge to conduct the scheduled inspection. Some officers remained outside while some entered the club. While walking through the Rainbow Lounge, an extremely intoxicated patron made sexually explicit movements toward the police supervisor. This individual was arrested for public intoxication. Another intoxicated individual also made sexually explicit movements towards another officer and he was arrested for public intoxication. A third individual inside the lounge assaulted the TABC agent by grabbing the TABC agent's groin. He was escorted outside and arrested for public intoxication. The decision was made to release him to paramedics due to his extreme intoxicated state as he was repeatedly vomiting. While dealing with this person, another officer requested assistance from inside the club as he had an intoxicated individual that was resisting arrest. This person was placed on the ground in an effort to control and apprehend. A total of seven (7) arrests were made from the Rainbow Lounge during this inspection. The total arrest count for the entire evening totaled 16.

Alcohol beverage code inspections are conducted frequently at establishments located within the city limits of Fort Worth. These are conducted in order to ensure a safe environment for all. A thorough internal investigation into the allegations made is being conducted as all allegations against officers are investigated.

Nothing Really New for Ft Worth Police

They take check tag numbers at the "community" churches and have the cars towed if they can find any reason to do so. Happens on a regular basis.. Ft Worth has ALWAYS been like this. It is funny that it is just now making headlines. They sit outside the bars and when a patron comes out and gets in the car make a aresst for DWI. Just life here.

So much for waiting until the bar throws them out to make it drunk in public...

The sad thing is the police probalby believe they are doing a service to the community.

The average cop (IIRC) has the mentality of a 9 or 10 year old and believe the world is a black-and-white place (right and wrong battling) with no shades of gray.

The police, like just about eveyone else in life (and like water and electricity), take the path of least resistance. They are not about to stop illegal immigration and turn over those without papers to the federal govt. They are not going to go after gangs. They are not going to go after graffiti "artists". They are not going to go after those involved in ientity theft. They are not going to go after the biggest drug and crime offenders. Oh no; they are going to go after the sitting ducks.

I got a ticket for my car being in my own drivway. It is a short driveway and car's rear was somewhat in the sidewalk. It was a snow day and the car is not allowed on the street. Ticket dismissed. But why in light of all the problem posted above am I getting a ticket?

Pull up to an Amigo Depot (foreigners of the iillgal sort lining up on the corner for work), round them up and deport them. Why is this so difficult? Stop bad habits BEFORE and as they form.

In Manhattan the porn shops (Read: tourist attractions) were attacked and shut down by a few mayors. Meanwhile in certian areas in Manhattan the drugs and guns and crime and quality-of-life violations are through the roof. But I assure you those will not be dealt with. What is wrong with a few disguisting old computerless trolls shooting their guns in private in an establishment for that purpose as opposed to the general poluations shooting their guns off randomly in public and killing innocents.

Sitting ducks.
UGH Rant over. :-)

You got it toggles

We have a min. of 15 drive bys a day here. Gangs rule the malls and streets . Drugs are almost like snowcones. In fact many snowcone stands sell drugs here.Crack can be purchased at any mall in 30 seconds or less for $10.00 But its the gay bars that are SO BAD! yu can get drugs from almost any street vendor. Ice cream truck or trash pick up truck I am told they have the big stuff. And not a thing is ever done about any of it.

Almost forgot

There are 2 red light houses in operation 6 blocks from the police station that have been there for 40+ years. And never a raid on either.

Selective enforcement.

Gee isn't prostitution a BIG sin and spoken of in the Bible?

But I guess that is ok.
