this washer was thrown out on the curb and i saw it on my way home from work. looks like a nice whirlpool late model machine, don't know anything else about it.

i threw it in the back of the jeep and got it home. gonna play around with it here and see if it runs. i'm hoping it will only need minor repairs, if any. i had one of these before with the kitchenaid name on it and it was a great washer! i left it in my old house when i sold it and wished i had brought it with me.

looks clean and new from the bottom. no rust anywhere.

all in all it looks great

to me. maybe i'm wrong! will find out here soon enough. gonna put some water in tub and plug it in out in the yard and see if it does anything!

this is the first washer i have picked out of the garbage in years!

wow looks nice, mayeb they didnt want to clean it out and just upgrade LOL we all know strange things have happened to appliances. enjoy it

i think i know what

is wrong with it already. motor spins but no tub action so my guess is the direct drive coupler (or whatever it is called) is broken. i had this happen on my kitchanaid/whirlpool washer 4 years ago and it was a very easy and inexpensive fix.

that explains why it was at the curb! great, it will be a nice washer when fixed, one i will use as a main machine along with my frigidaire gallery front loader.

lol...

If there is any reason that it was tossed out is probly because it either needs a new motor coupler or new agitator dogs...nice find!

That is a great washer. My aunt and uncle had one of those for about 14 years. It was heavily used and still worked when they got rid of it, all that was wrong with it was one back leg was broken and it would shake like mad when it spun. Of course they are also the type of people who commented they didn't want to pay for a new leg for it, so bought a new Maytag centennial instead.

nice little DD

nice find! looked like there was a 1998 date code on motor.
I have a 1993 KM DD 24" that was given to me and is under
repair-pretty long list of mechanical problems with it:
-top of tub post rusted away-loose tub/no spin
-leaking pump seal
-bad motor coupler
-motor centrifugal switch mechanism loose on shaft, but still
doing it's job
I bought a new coupler(of greatly improved design),the dump
will provide a good tub and other needed parts.
I have noticed at least 3 different coupler designs for these
DD machines:1984 had black rubber coupler insert,1993 had
white insert made of a urethane like material, but exact same
design as '84, recently bought replacement coupler has insert
of fiber reinforced"conveyer belting"rubber with 2 new drive
hubs with sintered iron shaft inserts and teardrop shaped
drive pins for more surface area.

hey rollermatic....

Here's a good YouTube video that will pretty much explain the agitator dogs on the Dual Action's. Its a very informative video on how to replace them.
