Someone has given us a Bosch dishwasher to replace our GE Nautilus. The Bosch has been sitting in a basement for about two years since a kitchen redmodel. I have never installed a dishwasher. Should I be concerned about dry seals or any other problems with a dishwasher sitting this long. It looks immaculant(almost new). She says it worked better than her new one. Also, how hard is a dishwasher installation? Any help appreciated.

If I only had room!

I'd take your Nautilus. I have the Nautilus portable, and love it.

I've only SEEN it done, but a standard dishwasher changeout seems to be pretty straightforward. As long as the breaker is tripped, and the water valve shut off!

Thanks!

I think I will try it. I don't think you would want our Nautilus, Lawrence. It is making a horrible sound. That is why we are getting rid of it. It has been a good one though. It has lasted 10 years. I hope the Bosch is not a mistake. I have heard they are pretty good.

Its not hard at all really..I know G.E. motors need water in the sump at all times otherwise they dry out and leak.Bosch I have no info about..The only things is to make sure that the washer is level these new low water jobs need that or the pump will cavitate bad.You just run the water hose to the valve and the drain hose make sure it goes up the top of the dishwasher and then over to the sink.I have fixed alot of washers by folks running the drain hose on the floor.Gravity will syphon the water out and if it goes into a disposer the waste can end up into the dishwasher.I put in my sisters smeg dishwashers and it had to be perfect level and I mean perfect.I am not a fan of Euro dishwashers cauz they have no grinder in them and I hate the filters in them but if I was designing and dishwasher it would have a full size disposer in it.Make sure the tabs are screwed in under the counter tops well. The doors can be heavy and I have had them rip out,I rub bar soap on the screws so they dont split the wood and then I use Gorilla Glue(VERY LITTLE GLUE) and that stuff is strong.
