Free Filter Flo Pair

This is a matching pair of 1976 Filter-Flo's in Atlanta; for the taking. I've not gone to see them yet, but they appear to be in decent shape in the photographs. It's tempting to go 'fetch' them, although I have no place to store them. Maybe someone on here would have an intereste in claiming them. These are standard-capacity machines. Washer has 3 water temperature selections (all cold water rinse), 3 water level selections, 2 basic cycles, no bleach or fabric dispenser. Dryer has 3 heat selections (hi, lo, fluff), timed drying, no signal, no drum lamp.

WOW Lawrence, that's tempting even to me!!! Could I become a GE convert???? They are very similar to the set my Grandmother had in the mid 70s to 1989.

They're free for the taking, Gordon. I emailed the "seller" this afternoon and was told that tomorrow afternoon would be a good time to check 'em out. They're located in Smyrna, a few miles from 285, off South Cobb Drive.

The ad indicates they both need help, but I'm sure you could take care of whatever they need.

General Electric Washers & Dryers such as these:

Usually you'd see these machines advertised in the newspaper--even boasting "Super Capacity", just to lure in the unwary...

What I liked about the GE reg. cap. dryer was the "D Shape" drum opening--much more "GE-like" than I'd than the round design in the lager models; same goes for the plain door handle, VS the escutcheon the Lg. Cap. models have...

General Electric made some nice looking machines, even as basic as you could go (though I think "soil", as in "Heavy Soil" in the timer dial settings, is too nice of a way to describe "dirt", or else you'd use a "different" word to describe what you were REALLY washing)...

Those look like older versions of the same trim line as the machines in the squeaky dryer thread.  Other than the noise factor with the washer, I really like the Filter Flo system from what I've seen so far. 

 

The free pair would be a very reliable set of machines once the necessary repairs were made.  They are definitely not krusher material so let's hope the owner hasn't already been hit up by scrap metal scrounges.

I hope that someone can save them....they're a similar trim line to the GE set that I had in my early 20's...a wonderful washer and dryer that I stupidly got rid of and have regretted it since.

No, I did not pursue them. Saturday was busy and that just didn't happen. I don't have a way to transport them and I don't have a spot to stash them, so the logistics become difficult.
