The main seal on the tub needs to be replaced, but as far as I know everything else is in good working condition. It's had the same owner its entire life, and judging from the condition of the other fixtures in this home, I'm guessing it's been meticulously cared for that whole time. It breaks my heart to get rid of it, but hopefully it can find a new home with someone who appreciates it!

You cannot replace the tub seal? If you obtain one, could you find a service person to install it? Perhaps a handy friend or relative.

Theoretically I could, but I haven't been able to find anyone to service it and and can't really afford to put much money into it right now :( I restore old stuff for a living and was super excited about this dishwasher, but my partner has reached the "omg, does EVERYTHING have to be a project?" point and this is the sacrifice we're making to our sanity.

About the issue of money, to get a barely comparable new dishwasher, you'd have to spend nearly $1k. If it costs $200 to fix, it would still be worth it versus buying new. Even cheap new ones aren't that cheap.

Part of my decision making process is that I actually have a brand new dishwasher sitting in my spare bedroom--our realtor told us our co-op board wouldn't let us use the KA, which turned out not to be true but by the time I found that out I'd already snagged a $900 LG that had been marked down to $200 because it was a duplicate floor model or something. I know I could sell that one and hopefully finance repairs on the KA, but 90% of my life is already absorbed by rescuing, restoring, and selling mid-century furniture, and the thought of finding enough energy to restore this mid-century dishwasher is so tempting but also makes me want to die a little. (I guess this forum is probably the least embarrassing place there is to admit I shed actual tears over this decision?)
