Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

OK Gary

I will post shots of the interior later tonight when I get home.

I agree with you, the older KitchenAid's were better than todays models. They even had a quality sound to them when running. I just love pushing start and hearing it come to life. More later.

I can't help it. That "J" has the best of both worlds (Superba & non-Superba)--adjustable top rack and the continuous circulatino of wash water while water is being heated and timer could extend main wash by up to 15 minutes as needed. And it's in black!!

The certified seal, just barely. This is simply a dish load and that's what KAs deal with best. Now if you were cramming in some dishes as well as pots, pans, ya da yada yada, that will really earn the seal. Is there a soup bowl missing? I can only count 7 of them, everything else counts 8. Pretty dishes too.

The missing soup bowl

is behind the dinner plates. That's why you can't see it!

OK, I'm now stepping into the confession booth. (gee, I'm not even Catholic) Father I have sinned, please grant me forgiveness for STAGING a Bob Load.

(complete silence, then) My dear son, it is very hard to live up to Bob's standards but I promise you one day you will master a real Bob Load all on your own.

(sigh of relief) Oh thank you Father. Peer pressure in the AW.org is such a hard thing to live up to. There is so much machine envy.

Patrick, you crack me up. I had my suspicions a bit. But I figured you had the perfect dinner party and used everything in that set of dishes, it COULD happen ya know. I guess the suspicion showed a bit with me counting pieces of dishware. My hat goes off to you for laying out a picture perfice owners manual demonstration. There are dishwasher-loading-challenged individuals who cannot even do that right, and I've seen it. So, m y son, you are forgiven. Go and enjoy porceilain tubbed KitchenAids in good health.

Thanks

Glad you liked the pictures Gary. The complete model number on the machine is actually KDIS-21, but - I think the KitchenAid website has it listed as KUDI21S. Here's a page from the user guide. I can send you a .pdf file of the user guide if you want as I have it saved on my computer.

I'm glad you enjoyed my sense of humor. No, there was no
dinner party and if there was it would have looked a lot different. I just decided to use the picture taking opportunity to setup the perfect load. I actually use Fiesta as my daily dishware and the KA rack spacing is not so kind when it comes to the size of the bowls. My old '95 Whirlpool actually has better spacing for the Fiesta ware but out with the plastic tub and in with the porcelain and the fan drying! It's the vintage fun factor and quality of design that counts.

Thanks Darrel

My dishwasher situation got a little out of control. (Gee, and my washer and dryer situation didn't?!!) Last year I got caught up in the postings about the reverse rack Maytag's and so went out and found a mint condition WU400 model and promptly installed it in my kitchen, replacing the MOL 1995 Whirlpool. Next thing you know I was looking at a flurry of postings about KitchenAids and started looking for those on Craigslist. I bought a KUDS230-0B0 Superba made by Whirlpool but still has the porcelain tub and traditional KA design with the rapid advance timer and lots of buttons and lights on the front. Once I got it home and cleaned up and ran it, I decided I didn't care for the all plastic control panel and so left the Maytag (which is a wonderful dishwasher)in it's place in the kitchen. Well, like a bad addiction I kept looking at Craigslist and stumbled upon the KDIS21. It was well used and needed a new pump filter screen and a new bottom rack but I had never seen one with a digital readout that was made by Hobart so had to have it. Once I got it thoroughly cleaned and all worn parts replaced I pulled out the Maytag and installed this in the kitchen. So now I've got 3 dishwashers sitting in my garage, 1 in the kitchen, and a soon to be revealed very vintage one that will reside in the dining room.

there ya have it!

And the tail wagging helper, his name is Chico. He's new around here.

Gary

Here is what the owners manual is listed under on the KitchenAid site: KUDI21SS1

It took a little playing to find it but I remembered Bob providing this way, way back and that's how I found it.

If this doesn't work for you let me know.
