Oh, My...
...Stars and bars. That's identical to the Philco my grandmother had when I was little. I think it was replaced about '65 or '66, with a GE.
We used to kid her that she wore the Philco out waxing it with Jubilee.
I can still experience that kitchen in memory. Youngstown Kitchens metal cabinets, red marbleized countertops, a black-and-white chequered floor, red gingham curtains (that she made) on the windows. The smell of Chase & Sanborn brewing in the morning, the smell of veggies cooking and pork chops baking in the evening. All to the accompaniment of Perry Como on an RCA tube radio. To this day, if I hear "Catch a Falling Star," I'm taken back in time.
I'd give anything to have all that back again. Well, I do have the record, anyway.
