FREE to Good Home in Bay Area: Sunbeam Toaster

I have always been fond of these Sunbeam toasters with the automatic lowering of the bread -- and how it knows if you just want to reheat the toast.
On the bottom it reads "Service 20-3 AG." 1375 watts, made in United States America. It must be pretty old as the side guides do not adjust to accept something as wide as a bagel.
Really, it is very clean, and I can tell it has been used very little. It works perfectly.
I would like to give it to someone who appreciates it. That someone could pick it up at my house (I am in the Lower Haight of San Francisco) or I would be happy to take it to someone who lives in the East Bay or down the peninsula as I go to those places often.

George, I share your opinions about these nice Sunbeams.  I have the same model, but the sliding control seems to need calibrating.  I also have an older model with the control knob on the side.  It does a better job at turning out perfect toast when set right in the middle.  I seem to recall the older types had a switch integrated into the control knob so it could be pushed inward to end the heating cycle and raise the toast.  Mine doesn't do that. 

 

If you have no takers, maybe we could arrange to meet up.  I like the sliding control better, as it's placed in a more convenient location.

I have one of these...fantastic toasters...fun to play with and watch....

probably the only down side....take your mind off of it, there is no "POP" to let you know the toast is ready/done...

It's here and it's beautiful; clearly it has seen little use.  It's going to be my daily driver.  These Sunbeams are just cool in how they work, and they're really smart too.

Our Sunbeam T-20B is kinda quirky.  I find that if I put the bread in upside down it toasts more evenly.  Don't ask me why, it just does.  Oh well, who cares as long as it comes out nice and crisp, and on the dark side the way I like it.

Nice toaster!  I have one of the originals, or close to it.  From the late 40's or early 50's.  grew up with it and it does a great job on standard white bread, but is quite lacking on anything else.  It's been years, well decades sine I used white bread so the Sunbeam is relegated to collection status.

 

Do more recent vintage versions of the toaster do a better job on bagels and rye bread?

I believe production ended in 1997. There doesn't seem to be a way to date these other than a general idea from changes to the graphics and styling over the years.
