Get out your crayons!

Back when I was a kid, I would look for print news ads such as this, then color in all the appliances. Of course my favorites were the ads put out by Peterson's Maytag. I loved that...

When did Philco get out of the Appliance market? It seems I remember them being Philco, then Philco-Ford. Then nothing at all.
I remember them making a lot of televisions, was there anything remarkable about Philco laundry products?

December 6, 1962 is 13 days before my birthday! Darn, I missed the sale!

I thouhgt by 1962 they had the "oval eye" look to their control panels. Anyone have any documentation as to what Philco look came out in what year?

From what I've heard, they were yet another company that fell victim to the WCI monster sometime in the early-70s. Otherwise that ingenious Flex-a-Wash "flapper" design would probably be around today, IMHO.

My birth appliances -

A friend of mine that works for and estate sale company saved me a newspaper ad from 1966 for one of our local (now gone) appliance stores. There's a full page, two color ad for the Frigidaire Electri-Clean 40" range and the facing page is an entire appliance/television/radio bonanza. Westinghouse, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, RCA Whirlpool, Philco...

This ad was published in late 1961. I don't understand the washer feature of a "Double-Pivot" motor that ends "needless part-changing." If a part that's changed was needless, isn't that the fault of the repairman and not the washer design?
