Was not able to photograph today…but would like to know who (PhilR ? ) might have a spare replacement steel guide rail for the bottom-mount freezer basket? It's the long, unpainted steel piece which fits between teflon rollers (hidden behind a white painted metal plate.

There should be 4 of these in my unit: 1 on each side of the upper slide out basket and 1 on each side of the lower freezer basket (one of mine is missing). I'm *presuming* the part would be interchangeable with a wide range of Frigidaire bottom freezer units from probably at least 1961 through '65 or '66-ish?

Pics will come later…but wanted to put a feeler out for now.

Here are photos~

One photo shows right side bracket which is missing its rail for the lower pull out freezer basket. Other two pics are: one of left side lower basket bracket WITH INTACT RAIL. I need the right hand mate to that steel piece. Other reference photo is same but with upper freezer basket shown in place.

Anyone aware of places which can...

replicate these things? Was wondering if maybe there mightn't be a kitchen cabinetry company out there which uses a similar rail--might be able to acquire a close match maybe?

Travis, thanks--

Being a lamp and furniture designer, I've found creative ways to get most anything done. I can easily imagine somebody at a fabricator shop telling me $200…. Am going to rifle through my stash of things and see if I don't have something I can modify to function respectably. Hoping someone up here just happens to have the right thing laying around though!

I'll look for that later today and I'll let you know. I have parted out a fridge and I needed it's baskets, I just can't remember if I had to use the guides or if they were still in the other fridge.

Thank you PhilR!

What did you part out? Curious to know what else I might be able to talk you out of….I also need a replacement chrome light switch for the freezer door of the '63...

I had one of those but I had to use it for my 1959, the other switch was different (long rectangular shape) for 1964 and newer models. I'm going to look at my stuff, I'll tell you if I have the rails. I might have kept the bad round light switch from the 1959 but it's not worth trying to make it work!

PhilR comes through!

I nominate him for "BEST OF AW" award this year~if there is such a thing. The Freezer basket rail arrived today and I now have a complete Frigidaire FPI-16B! Just brilliant. This site really has the best people. Happy boy here….!

I'm happy that it serves you and that you share my interest for these appliances!

BTW, once the track is installed in the rollers, You have to bend the part that stops it on the rollers at the back.

Yes--got the bend put right...

The rail fits very tight though….not easy to slide so I need to do some work on the guide rollers to ease the tension. I think previous owner might've bent or misaligned one or two when the old rail got removed. It is a perfect match, however…so just some fine tuning now! Thanks again, PhilR!

PhilR, do you have a foot pedal?

Hey PhilR,
Sorry to hijack this thread about the freezer rails but I saw where you were parting out a unit. Do you happen to have a foot pedal for the freezer door that I can buy from you? My 1961 FPI-15B is missing the actual pedal but has all the moving parts inside the compartment. thanks!

I'm sorry I don't. The foot pedals in both my 1961 and 1959 were broken and I had to have them welded. Do you still have yours? They can usually be fixed by a good welder. The 1963 and later refrigerators have a much simpler mechanism which is much less prone to break.
