So I'm leafing through my hard-bound copy of "Better Homes and Gardens Home Improvement Ideas 1968" which arrived today, and I come across an insert for new Frigidaire appliances. The cover of the insert shows the colors available and says "Smart Frigidaire Colors: Two-Tone Copper; Cherrywood Vinyl; Sunny Yellow; Two-Tone Tahitian Green; Matador Red; Biscayne Blue; Autumn Haze; Snowcrest White; plus Brushed Chrome, not shown. (Not all colors available on every model.)"

My question is has anyone seen any of the Matador Red or Biscayne Blue appliances?

Just Wondering:

Most of these colours I can figure out:

Two-Tone Copper: Coppertone
Cherrywood Vinyl: Woodgrain
Sunny Yellow: Yellow
Two-Tone Tahitian Green: Avocado
Matador Red: Poppy
Snowcrest White: White

These two I'm wondering about:

Biscayne Blue: Is this Turquoise or anything close to it? The presence of Sunny Yellow on a 1968 list of colours makes me wonder if maybe Frigidaire, as a premium-quality company, didn't keep Yellow and Turquoise in their line a year or two longer than other companies did, as a courtesy to customers.

Autumn Haze: I have an idea this is Harvest Gold, surfacing early. I remember the first ad I ever saw for Harvest appliances, and it was definitely a Frigidaire ad, but I cannot remember if it was this early.

Any info on these would be great!

Either that, or it could be that darker blue color that Whirlpool had for a short time. I have a feeling you're right about the rest of them. Actually, I like some of these names better than the later ones!

I have an article on planning laundry rooms from BH&G '68-ish that shows a woman whose husband works for Frigidaire and she gets to try out new colors on appliances for her new laundry suite. The new color was Poppy (or Matador Red) and it was on a set of TOL '68 CXN washer (variable speed) and CIN dryer. I tried to find it quick, but can't locate it right now, I'm not sure if I removed it from the magazine or if it's still in the growing stack of mags downstairs.

The red was a touch more Chinese red with brickish red shading and the blue was a greyed out Bristol with a deeper grayish shading. There was also a color that was Fawn or Doeskin and the three harmonized in an Americana sort of look often marketed in a kitchen with brick walls and wood floor.
