This ad is from a 1969 "Better Homes & Gardens" magazine. Apparently, the woman replaced her 1957 Frigidaire with a 1969 Frigidaire, which I'm sure was nice. BUT she banished the Control Tower machine to the barn?! Just terrible....

Actually Today

Many washing machines come with a warning that they must not be installed in "vermin infested" or areas where vermin are present, less they set up housekeeping inside the unit. Indeed some manufacturers go one to say such conditions void the warranty.

Suppose a unit that was in a more office part of the barn might be different, but I for one wouldn't want a washing machine right up in the stalls.

Hopefully the washer has a full bottom (*HUSH*) otherwise all that hay/muck getting up inside is a fire hazard.

Speaking of full bottoms:

My Parents were convinced to sell their 1953 GE Stratoliner because mice had been setting up rodent condo's in all the various pockets of fiberglass insulation for years. It was usually bad in the winter when you'd turn on an oven and you'd start smelling ratatouille roasting in his own poop. You'd think they'd have found a deterrent for that given that so many of those sold in the sticks. The mice would also chew on the burner wires as they became coated with grease throughout the years.
