Fellow WMophiles,
Some friends just hooked me up with a late 60's/early 70's
Frigidaire "Crown" I'm guessing on the year; I haven't seen it yet; all I know is that it has a lid window and it's Harvest Gold. I'm leaving in about the length of a standard rinse cycle to pick it up a 110 miles away. Apparently it is a "daily driver" they just snatched up for me @ an estate sale
yesterday. The bad news they loaded it into the pickup, and left it on one side. Can anybody tell me if that will trash it very much? I expect to get it up right by about 9:00 AM tomorrow (Tuesday, the 18th) and home in the afternoon. How soon before I can safely test? Thanks for your replies.

Frigidaire washer

The only appliances I know of that are affected by laying on their side are refrigerators, freezers and some front loaders that don't have their shipping brackets in them.Otherwise your Frigidaire washer should be o.k.

I wonder if it is "solid-Tub" "Jet-Action" or a 1-18? I have discovered that putting the machines on their side for any length of time can stretch the spring on one side, and causes a permanant (untill spring is replaced) list to one side. Not on all but on some types. Hope it is in good shape, congratulations on your new toy! Let us know which kind it is. Best wishes, Steve

machine on side

Some machines could leak oil out of the gearcase, (KM/WP come to mind) but not a biggie problem.

CROWN/ 1-18

Jeepers, Ida never thought I would have washingmachine performance anxiety! My main concern was transmission oil
seepage, what with my limited knowledge of these machines. I had no idea that they employed this unique concentric(?) filling/spray rinsing routine. Anyhow it seems to run like a champ. I don't know if it was a one owner unit; it came from the estate of a "single" elderly male. The lint filter was/is
a little skanky and there is the usual grunge in the grunge
trapping areas; nothing that a little Dawn and CLR can't waste! At this time, it is performing the "white cotton briefs" manuver!!! Did these come with fabric softener dispensers? I'll try to figure out out to post a pic soon.
Gotta go, check for over sudsing. It sounds like a fifty six
Buick missing on one cylinder with glass packs!!!! As they say hereabouts YAY!!!!!
