FRIGIDAIRE Custom Imperial DCI-65 in turquoise

I just received a 1965 FRIGIDAIRE electric dryer from Smith's here in Hilo, Hawaii. It is in great condition with 2 speed tumble and sensor drying. It also has a dispenser to pour water in so you may sprinkle your pre ironed clothes as well as a step pedal to open the door.It runs only on electric (220 volts) and I need to know how to set the 110 volt plug up to test the unit since I have no access to any 220 volt outlet.no scratches or chipping anywhere!No rust either.Only dream of getting the matching Jet-Action washer with the original Roller-Matic Mechanism (no pullies,no gears,no belts)and 8 position Fabrics Selector.

nice find,hopefully you can find a rollermatic for it someday
-the washers must have been a bit problematic or people just
didn't want to fix them years ago-i was finding them behind the
appliance shop 1976-77(used to raid their dumpster after hours
for discarded parts and literature!),and lots of them at the
dump 1982-84,never did find any 1-18s at the dump at that time
so those must have been more reliable.

i would say they are pretty rare

because i have only seen one 1965 custom imperial washer on this site or anywhere in the 3 years i have been appliance collecting. it is the one i got from walt (18 mill st) in new york 2 summers ago.

i am hoping another will come my way someday.

Anyone here who would be so kind as to show me a written diagram on how to convert this temporarily to 120 using a 120 volt 3 prong grounded plug would be helpful in showing it to me. I must be having either those damned brain farts or a senior moment because I used to do this all the time at Home Depot to set the M'tags and LGs dryers up for display.thanks a lot!!!

I remember toggles had a very informative post about 220-120 conversions, but I can't seem to find it.

120 VOLT DRYER HOOK UP

1 remove 240 volt dryer cord if still attached 2 remove center ground strap or green wire from center terminal 3 move red wire from terminal post and install on the other outer post with black wire. Now you can install a 120 three wire grounded heavy duty cord, use at least a 14ga cord 12ga is even better if you intend to use the dryer much. Attach the black wire to the post with the black and red wire, then attach the white wire to the center post with the white wire and last attach the green ground wire to the screw where the ground strap attaches to the cabinet or steel mounting bracket. Make sure all connections are tight and reinstall the cover plate and your done. If you are going to use the dryer much its best to connect it to a 20 AMP circuit with no other high current drawing appliances being used at the same time.

I have a digital camera and my phone has a camera and video but, I am so damned computer illiterate that I can't seam to figure out how to not only transfer the info on line but also download music on the built in ipod on my phone. The instructive literature is so damned small l can't read the lettering.
