Frigidaire (Delco) Motors

I've been wondering... I have been through the archives of this site many a time and one thing I never hear anyone mention is the need to replace a motor on their Frigidaire washers. I've heard about a start switch here and there but never a motor failure. I hope I NEVER have to change a motor on one of my rollermatics "knocks on wood"... What is it that makes these motors so highly durable?

i'm not sure as to

what makes them so durable except that delco is just a quality made motor.

but i do know that mark michaels has a lot of frigidaire motors for sale that will fit rollermatics, i bought one extra 2 speed motor last summer when i gave him a big order.

of the 4 rollermatics i am currently restoring all motors work fine! several do run quite hot so i have installed cooling fans under the washers to run whenever the motor is on. this has kept the motors cool to the touch and i intend to keep a cooling fan on all my rollermatics that i ever use.

mark also has starting switches available for these motors.

I had to change one out after frying the starter. Had to completely dismantle the mechanism and put it back together. A shlep-----but not nearly as challenging as re-operating a Unimatic.

other brands too

i have seen delco motors in a few other brand's '60s machines,
not sure if any of the 1-18s got delcos-'74and'79 1-18s i have
dealt with both had emerson motors,while a 1980 frigidaire
dryer had a delco motor.
