Hey guys -

Dave over at Shorpy posted a pretty cool (no pun intended) photograph of a 1926 Frigidaire sales display. I'd suspect this was taken at a fair or some trade type show. Very cool to see the word "FRIGIDAIRE" frosted over! Make sure you take a look at the large size. Quite a bit of detail.

Love the belt drive compressor.

antique refrigeration

on local cafe still runs its original walk-in cooler that was
set up around 1940;insulated with cork,it still has the
original belt-drive compressor but the evaporator had to be
replaced because of corrosion about 15 yrs ago.
The motor is a fairbanks-morse.
the lady who runs the cafe says this old cooler spooks the
hell out of younger techs who come to service it...
She had me comeover and listen to it once-that was a delight!

Fridgidaire

There used to be a Fish Market here that had a Water Cooled Fridgidaire Compressor. Fairly Quiet but Very Efficient. I did work in Boston for a few years and alot of the older kitchens had Water Cooled Compressors. They really made sense for a Kitchen especially in the summer time. My kitchen can reach temperatures in excess of 118 F, This is a Huge Burden on Air Cooled Condensors. The Ice Machines drop their production almost in half. Especially when the Humidity is High.
