Frigidaire Flair burner drawer stuck

Our time capsule house from the '60's came equipped with a Frigidaire Custom Imperial Flair. We have been using it daily for the past 5 years only to have the burner drawer get stuck in the closed position. Now we have no access to our burners. Any ideas? It is built into our kitchen cabinetry so there isn't any access to side panels or anything. I attached some older pictures showing the burner drawer closed + open. Thank you for any and all help!

Hi Rebecca, You will Probably have to pull the entire range forward and release the latch from the rear if you cannot get it to release from the front. Problems like this can be a challenge to us guys in the repair business, but we almost always find a way to do it without destroying the appliance.

after trying many things we discovered that the burner drawer cover could be removed and then we were able to access the lever pin by taking out the left burner. Somehow we took apart the assembly and completely removed the pin. I seriously do not see what was wrong with it. We decided to remove the pin all together so the drawer will move freely. We just need to remember to never pull it out too far since we have nothing to stop it (I assume- let's not find out!)

Leaving the pin out could end up being an accident waiting to happen. Suppose someone other than you or another member of your household pulls out the burner drawer, not knowing that there is nothing to prevent it from coming out? If there is something on the stove cooking there could be a serious injury and maybe a claim against your homeowners ins. I would only leave it like this temporaily, and be sure to leave a clearly visable note on the drawer to remind users to not pull out the drawer too far. There must be a way to make a permanent repair.
