Help Support :

Unfortunately I have a sedan also - OK Connecticut guys - any ideas????? Perhaps we can put our collective heads together and help out.

Austin, BIG AMEN!!! I probably wouldn't have said it as nice and I"ve wanted to say something for the last day or two. that ABC-O-Matic being krushed really pees me off. Get your act together guys. This is a very important machine and it's so darn close!!!

Alright, here's a thought

I also have a sedan BUT My friend Carl has access to a truck plus he has a Grand Cherokee. I am also renting a Silverado this weekend (for other reasons), but I could keep it an extra day (Fine by me). I'm not interested in the machine myself but I wouldn't mind helping my fellow Nutmegers out. Throw it around. Whoever let me know if that could [email protected]

Austin, well said! Us southerners are STARVED for vintage machines. At least you own a few. I don't own the first one. They're non-existant here and there are still lots of them up north waiting to be taken. If someone finds a vintage machine, get it, put it up for sale. Shipping is a b*tch but I'd do it for the right machine (68-71 Kenmore 800 in excellent condition).

Listen Mr. LeBoufe.

You know I live in Florida, but, have I got a secret for you. Take highway 90 towards Eunice, that would be going west. Somewhere between you and there is a HUGE appliance junk yard, near Lawtel if I remember correctly. I have seen it many times when going to Eunice to my late grandparents home.

Let us know how you fare.

Steve

You'll all be happy to know I got it.

Thank you everybody for your offers, help concern etc. I am now the proud owner of, not one, but two vintage machines! I took a trip to Mystic today and met Kevin, the sympathetic and helpful service manager of Coogan and Guildersleeve Appliances, who escorted me to their backyard where I got to see the Frigidaire WIN (which turns out to be a Rapidry 1000!)Kevin admitted to me that he had tossed it off of the truck in the middle of the bad rainstorm we had here this weekend. When I spoke to him on the phone he described the machine as "junk" and "junked". But upon inspection I think this thing has good bones:

I'm a sucker for blue polypropylene. Kevin wasn't surprised at my interest in the old machines at all. He told me that he had managed a scrapyard years ago and how it killed him when some of his favorite vintage cars hit the crusher. And to top off the afternoon, he threw in a complementary complete Maytag Power-fin agitator set. As I said, I'm just a slut for blue plastic. This is going to work out well, I think. He's willing to keep an eye out for me for my dream machines. This man will be rewarded with many chocolate desserts. Will keep y'all posted when they arrive home. I'm going to need help rebuilding the Frigidaire...but my vintage washer collection has begun! God help me.

Glad you got the machine. I also tried to reach Kevin - called the store this morning, and had to leave a message for him. Never heard back though.....
