immaculate

The whole kitchen, in fact, the whole church is immaculate. The priest has been there over 40 years. He's very proud of the church and the rectory. He was telling me about the kitchen renovation and was surprised when I observed that it must have been turquoise before. I told him it was the turquoise can opener by the sink. He laughed and said he insisted on keeping it as a reminder of the old kitchen.

So, why didn't French door ovens take off? It seems like a brilliant idea to me--especially after the last time I tried to change the light bulb in my P7 wall ovens.

Sarah, I'm not sure anyone other than Frigidaire offered French door ovens.  Today, there is more than one manufacturer who offers this style.  GE comes to mind off the top of my head.  Thank you for the link to the parish.  I was wondering which one it was.  I'll have to ask my partner if we've been in that area of Birmingham before.  The photo looked kind of "familiar".

I have been in that area--it's not too far from UAB University Hospital and Children's Hospital, which I've been by several times.

Ovens with French Doors

Think about it; you've got a both hands full with a heavy roaster or whatever pan and now you have to open *two* doors to get it in oven. This and or to get things out you have to open and close a pair of doors. Am guessing enough housewives got tired of that, and or foresaw such issues and stayed clear.

French Door wall ovens

Hi Laundress , The doors are always linked together so you only have to grab one handle to open or close both doors.

That said there is also an increased risk of spilling the turkey roaster etc on you without a downward opening door to protect you and you can more easily burn your arms and elbows on the open doors and most of all split door with an additional seal in the middle wastes more energy and is very hard to build with a Self-Clean function the works well and last of all its hard to have a decent window in this type of door.
