Well this washer lasted a whole 3 months here....being 10+ years old she threw the spider on the drum...what an ungawdly sound that made when it was in high spin with a load of jeans. Here is a pic of said washer...

So I went washer shopping and checked out what they had at Best Buy and Sears, I went to Lowes in Saugus Mass and saw what they had and lo and behold the same washer I had and it was built 09/2010 same thing and on clearance for $309. I was going to spend at least $1600 for a new stacked set since Frigidaire no longer makes the washer and I thought that there was no way I would find something that I could mate to the dryer...
This washer was never used and it was returned because of a couple of scratches...I can live with scratches and the price was right.
So anyways the washer that threw the spider is up for a parts donor....if anyone needs a part from this machine be it the motor, dispenser system, switches, computer module I will part it out...
Nice find! I always liked my '96 and '02 Frigidaires. Hopefully you get far more than 3 months from it, LOL!
Well considering that I knew that Frigidaire had stopped making these and I didnt think I would find something new and cheap makes me very happy. The washer should last or at least I hope it will. One thing I noticed is that when the washer fills it doesnt add anymore water to the load like the other washer did if the water level dropped some like with towels. It does rinse better and the motor doesnt coast down from spin like the other washer does. It more like going from high spin to a dead stop in a few seconds...its kinda cool. Also one thing that i noticed is that the wash drum vanes are held in place by one screw and its towards the rear of the drum. The other screw opening is there and the vanes dont feel as solid to me. I know they are snapped and channeled into place.
One thing I did notice is how quiet this washer is during spin, granted the pump is a tad noisy but thats normal. I was looking at the Maytag Performance 2000 washer and dryer and I like the build on them...I know that they are Whirlpool Duet sports in disguise but for my area to stack them they would fit the bill. I went to Sears and wanted the Kenmore LG built washer and dryer but my gawd they are tall. I think a tad too tall and they would hit my pipes in the basement. Nice machines though.

Mine is a little older, still working. Little visible difference, 'door lock' light has moved. You say it has active braking? Mine doesn't. Mine also has a good spider, or it did last time I tried it.
To get a good fill I start it on 'heavy wash' which tumbles while filling. But the timer/cycles may have changed.

Hey Mike, if you remove the top and check out the pressure switch,this model should have the adjustible water level screw. Mine did and, if you cancel thdn reset after the fill, it will begin adding more watef. Congrats on anice find.
I brought the water level up on the new washer as well. Very easy to do but what this washer does is that it will fill for each segment of the cycle and not add more water after tumble begins for the rinses. The wash cycle I always use the Heavy setting on the Cottons/Regular cycle since it tumbles while filling. I didnt raise the water level much, just up to the lip of the drum and a tad below it. One thing I noticed after each spin is that with the motor "braking" it doesnt coast down like the other washer does...after spinning at 850 and then the pump shuts off and then it brakes the load falls right off the drum. I will have to video it to show how it works...its kinda cool...

I think the Fridgemore's are very under rated washers. I bought and still have mine since 2002. Did the water level mod I found on these pages at the time. They fit where the over-sized Whirlpool Duet and clones do not.

We had the same washer with the Kenmore name on it. It was great. Did a great job of washing, and only failed to spin on two loads over all of the years. Those loads were rugs.
We left it in the house when we moved since the new condo came with an over priced GE set. Would I ever trade back to my old machine!! Sad thing is that the new owners of the house did not want it after all. Neighbors say the set was out to the curb less than a week after the new people moved in.
New GE won't spin anything!!

I do like this washer and I use it more than the SQ washer. I use the front loader and dry in the GE Profile dryer and it takes less than 25 mins to dry a load. The dryer on top of the front loader does ok but doesn't have the finesse thatt the Profile dryer has or the accuracy of drying. The Profile dryer is electric , 7 cu ft drum, and uses Sensor Dry Plus system. The piggy back dryer is thermostatic control and gas. Plus a smaller drum at 5.7 cu ft. And it has the pesky drum vanes that catch small items like socks at the ends...still a good dryer just same. I have not encountered scortching with this dryer....yet.

Perfectly satisfied with mine after 14 years. Had to reset the dispenser cam once when I spun the knob too fast, that's it. Yes, it's a little stingy with water depending on load/fabric but I decided not to adjust it.
Frigidaire no longer makes these? That is a shame. Our circa-2000 Kenmore-branded set is still going strong; we had to replace the pump on the washer once. I assume that the bearings and/or spider will eventually go, and when that happens was considering replacing it with the current versions, if they were still being made.

The market has changed since ~2000. This machine was better than the price might have suggested, even at ~2.5 x an average $350 toploader at the time. But there wasn't an established US market for frontloaders, no energy-star appliances. It was a Euro design assembled by White for GE, Frigidaire, Kenpool/Whirlmore. Those alliances were model-expedient, not meant as permanent.
Meanwhile every industry has become more cutcorner and reliant upon Chinese junk. And the market having been established, the prices have inflated while reliability and performance were compromised and gizmoized. Samsung and LG entered the market. Both brands were fairly well regarded at one time but lately in appliances seem to have lost integrity despite NOT being 'cheap' by any definition.
If I had to replace my Frigiwhite I honestly can't say what I'd do. I'd like the smallest crossover Wascomat but that exceeds my net worth by twice.
