I have been is dishwasher hunting again because my Maytag would not fit.I saw a Frigidaire I just opened it because I did not see the brand and it has a round  arm on the end of a straight arm.Its a cool set up I will admit that but it looks like something from Smeg or A.E.G.  I like the lay out the wash arm and it does allow the water to reach to places a lot more places than any other type.

It's interesting to see an old idea revived.  Back in the early 70s Frigidaire had a small wash arm on one end of the large wash arm.

I saw this while perusing the Frigidaire site last night. It looks quite interesting. If I had to get a NEW dishwasher I would consider trying it. Can't wait for the reviews.

Didn't GE's have mini spray arms on the ends of the regular arms?

Looking at the specs,, it doesn't say it has a SS interior,,does it and where it says "quietest dishwasher,, at 53Db.. that's not all that quiet these days.. That new KA I got a few weeks ago is rated at 46Db and I can hear it, it could be quieter imo for the money it cost.

I'm skeptical. Not because it's new technology, GM Frigidaire & GE had variations of this, maybe more but because it's in a Electrolux-Frigidaire. Has anyone actually touched one of these new iterations? Would love to see a video of it running but Frigidaire dishwashers have never had good ratings or reviews, at least not for very long anyway.

New Wash Arm

I remember GE had a model with two small wash arms on each side of a larger wash arm. It seems that such a design and motion would provide jets wash from every conceivable position in that circle.

Another thing to consider is that for a rotating wash arm, the area covered by half the radius of the wash arm, is about a third of the area of the rack. The outer half of that radius covers three times the area and so that its why most conventional wash arms have more jets on the outer radius of the wash arm.

With the new Frigidaire wash arm the wash action would be be much heavier in the center of the rack, but but the larger/taller items are often loaded at the edges and ends of the rack. I am curious to see it in action, however.

Frigidaire Dishwashers

The first generation of the Frigidaire Precision Wash systems were fantastic (Mid to late 90's). I have one in my basement that I will put up to just about any machine.

The latter frigidaires have had problems. I just ripped two brand new ones out (each only 9 months old). One design flaw was the upper rack - it was missing a cross support which meant you could not move the rack without every glass falling over. The other is the weakness of the spray.

I have seen videos of this spray-arm on spray-arm design. It is a really cool idea, and it will get water to a lot of places, but that water won't have any real power - it will just be sprinkling.

If you end up getting this machine, I would be interested to find out how it works for you (maybe they are starting to get better again after all....)

Good luck!

Found it on the homepage - thanks for the video tip. Sort of as I expected, it does look rather anemic but then, so do most of the new dishwashers truth be told. I guess I'm too spoiled after seeing the action in so many of these vintage machines! I know several people who have bought KitchenAid dishwashers lately and seem to be pleased with them but have mostly resigned themselves to pre-rinsing though this was probably ingrained long before the new dishwasher :-)

Frigidaire doesn't appear to have any dishwashers with stainless tanks, perhaps that's a step-up to the Electrolux higher end lines.

Orbital wash

It's the same as SMEG "orbital wash system", they have it on every dishwasher since I know they existed. I think electrolux copied it when SMEG patent expired or something like that as they introduced it on their TOL models only a couple of years ago on the market. I didn't know there already was an equivalent in the USA market in the past!
Till recently on each piece of marketing literature SMEG presented that feature as "unique" along the "shuttle" wash system for slimline dishwasher, they were the only ones I knew of that had it.
If it's only half as nice as a proper SMEG wash system that dishwasher it's going to clean anything you throw at it!

cool!

Wow, that's really cool, Wes. Hope it works well for you.

What happeneded to your GE Monogram?? Didn't put it out on the curb did you (I hope not.)

GE had the "SmartWash" lower arm, I think for two years, in the early 90's. ComboJohn probably knows the exact dates. I guess there must have been some type of problem with them. I had bought one from the a thrift store a long while back. It washed fine until one of the little spinners came of the main arm. Very cheaply made.

When I ordered a replacement from GE Parts, they sent a substitute which was a conventional wash arm, same as in use today in their two door non-tall tub machines.

You are like me, Wes, and don't rinse your dishes, so it will be interesting to see what type of results you get.

I have had a couple of Frigidaire (Electrolux) models with the alternating (top/bottom) spray. They were sterling performers on everyday loads, but couldn't scrub baked on foods like the GE non-tall tubs or Maytag Reverse Racks. But other than than they sure gave sparkling results.

Hopefully, with this new "pressure wash" system they can handle pots/pans and baked on material which they old Frigidairs couldn't (at least my models couldn't). Does this model have four final rinses in the Pots and Pans Cycle, Wes?? My two models did and that was a big plus to have such thorough rinsing and helped to explain why the glassware and dishes glistened so.

We are all anxious to see the results, so please dirty some dishes and pans up!!

No I did not buy this dishwasher...There is NOOOOOO way I would have a Frigidaire dishwasher.Well I did have a 1994 Frigidaire gallery that looked like a Viking but it had a 1/3 H.P. motor and moved 64 gallons a min through the Wash Arms and I would pit that machine against any..I was just opening dishwashers because you can't see a brand or anything nowadays..I will admit there was a T.O.L. Electrolux that was $1599 marked down to $800 and I have never seen racks, pockets, that did all that thing did it was a Wave touch and it was gorgeous but I have read nothing but terrible reviews on them.I have always been fascinated in those types of arms because you can reach every dish exponentially by that round arm spinning and that main arm kinda shaking back and forth as it spins. It reminds me if a ceiling fan I have those types of arms.I bought a L.G. dishwasher that cleans GREAT I threw in a half of a apple pie with a brown sugar and nut top plus all the other dishes the whole bottom was covered with food and it there was not one thing that did not come out clean.I did hear a ton of grinding. There was no food in the bottom either of it when it was done also.I do use institutional detergent with phosphates which makes a world of difference.I can't get pass the thought that Frigidaire uses a aquarium pump for a main motor Askoll makes them well the one I took apart.
