I have one for my Philco and my mother had one in our 1968 Westinghouse freezer that was in the garage growing up. She and I both used to help defrost the freezer and scrape ice after it hadstarted to melt. I used mine the other week when I defrosted the Philco and I remember mom using hers to defrost the Westinghouse every summer in her bathing suit.
Mom's sadly was in the freezer when it was thrown out. We had a hurricane and the compressor wound up in salt water when the garage flooded and it died. Between that and losing power for a few days, you could smell it from 1,000 feet away. It just wasn't worth saving.
If you decide to get rid of it down the line, I wouldn't mind it for the 1950 Frigidaire I'm getting from Elginkid to match my range.[this post was last edited: 7/21/2014-21:39]
