Hi all. Today at the local reuse/recycle store I saw a Frigidaire washer dryer (vertically stacked and attached at the back). It had an odd looking agitator, I think I've seen a picture of a skinny mini agitator here, and it looks pretty much the same.

They have a price of 110.00 Canadian dollars for it. So...are they fun to use? How much does that cute little tub hold? Are they easily fixable?

Fill me with your knowledge and advice please!

Guy

The Synchro-Swing Frigidaires are fun machines and have surprisingly good action. By all means grab it...it would have already been brought home if I saw one!

Forget the wiring, grab the machine and quit playing around. You can worry about the wiring later.

ps, look on the "See it Wash" tab on this site and there will be a video of one of these Frigidaire's.

Pick up this machine for its historical value if nothing else...it's GM Frigidaire's final washing machine transmission/agitation design, and the only one that oscillated back and forth instead of up and down. Plus, as has been said, it is a fun machine with a solid tub and overflow rinse.

From the factory the 110v machines had a relay that turned off the heat in the dryer while the washer was agitating and spinning as a 110-120v line likely won't have enough amps to run both. You can wire the 220v model to 110v, but you won't be able to run the washer and dryer at the same time without blowing the fuse/breaker.

~Can I wire the laundry center to operate on 110v? I only have one 220v circut in the laundry room.

Or you could have a "power strip" made such that your one circuit has both this and the other item (dyrer?) plugged in. Of course you'd only be able to use one dryer at a time.

One dryer and this washer at the same time (via the power strip) MAY work as well.
