Frigidaire Toploaders

I was looking on the Frigidiare website today and downloaded a manual to one of their toploaders. Like someone else mentioned, it states in the manual that when a warm rinse is selected, the machine will use cold for the deep rinse and warm for the spin spray.
Also I noticed that on the Whites (normal) cycle it states that the final spin is 12 minutes long. Isn't that an excessive amount of time for the spin?

Nope, not if you are trying to get people to believe that that long a spin is going to remove a lot more water than say a 6 minute spin. I think there's a very quick point of diminishing returns on a 600 to 700 rpm spin speed for 12 minutes. I don't think much more is extracted from the load after 6 or 8 minutes of spinning at that speed.

You are so right, Bob.

I have a 2006 Frigidaire top-loader, and I've never quite understood the reasoning behind their final spin times. The Whites cycle spins for 12 minutes (called a Power Spin). Both the Colors and Delicates cycles have a final spin of only 3 minutes, the first 20 seconds of which is a spray rinse. So you basically have a 2-1/2 minute spin on those cycles.

You can definitely tell the difference in the water amount of water extracted between the 12 minute spin and the 3 minute. (I ran a 3-minute spin on a load of bath towels once. They were still quite wet.)

But I think 12 minutes is excessive, and as Bob mentioned, anything more than 6 minutes provides diminishing returns.

These machines have a 600-615 rpm spin.

On our frigidaire the last "powerspin" was just as described, what was strange if you selected the extra rinse, it was followed by the shorter spin. I guess Frigidaire thinks "extra rinse" water spins out faster. alr2903

Mine spins for 9 minutes after the optional 2nd rinse on the Whites cycle (the only cycle which has that option). There's also about a 9-minute pause before the 2nd rinse starts, so I usually just read or watch TV in the family room and reset the washer manually when I need a 2nd rinse.

When I hear it start filling for the rinse, I reset it for a cold 3-minute wash cycle. It's much quicker since it doesn't go through the 12-minute spin, then pause for 9 minutes.
