Hey Guys..It has been awhile since I lasted posted but here goes.  I was keeping my eyes in several Frigidaire top Load washers specifically a W-2,WCDL, W-5, WN7.  I think those are the correct model numbers at least the once the co. listed them by.  The name of the Company is Appliances Unlimited in Queensbury, NY.  I have bee calling them for days and get only an answering machine.  Then today I get a voice mail from them.  Someone came in a bought all 4 machines.  I literally got sick at the thought of losing these washers.  So, does anyone in AW know anything about Appliances Unlimited.  And, did anyone in AW buy these machines and willing to share?  To complete my collection my Frigidaire Unimatic, Rollarmatic, or Multimatic still eludes me.  I even had the $$ set aside for shipping and any needed repairs, since there running condition was unknown.  Thank  Losangeles

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Appliances Unlimited in Queensbury got out of the vintage appliance business in 2014. They had an auction to liquidate their stock - I was there and between me and a fellow Canadian collector we picked up about 12 machines.  Most were beyond hope alas!

Hansen's aka Appliances Unlimited...

as Paul said, auctioned off most of their vintage stuff. I went there several times with Paul and PhilR, and I got that Harvest Gold WC-2 with the window lid. Paul, PhilR and Eddie here got the rest of the FD washers. Last time I was there, 2 yrs ago, he did still have a few ranges and fridges that didn't get new owners in the auction, but don't recall any washers were left. Hans H. no longer wants to deal with vintage stuff, he's just a new appliance dealer and repair place now.

Frigidaire washers

That is sickening indeed.  I thought from the website that I had hit a virtual goldmine of Frigidaire washers.  There needs to be a serious update of the website.  Still hoping someone with several Frigidaire washers would willing to part with one for a good price and shipping included.  Anyone in AW land wanting to do so contact me, please.  Thanks, Tommy

Isn't that '63 set still on Shoppers Square? I have made purchases from that man before and he treated me fine. You know, once you get the first one in the corral the others will start to follow.
Make the guy an offer.

And btw, that '63 washer will wash circles around most new stuff even with a worn-down Energy Ring!

63 Frigidaire on E-bay

I would like to make an offer on the Frigidaire, but really only want the washer, but if it means taking them both I will.  But I do not want to be insulting.  What do you guys think would be a fair offer, remembering probable repairs are needed.  And this pair is a long way from home.  I know nothing about shipping.  Last time I wanted a washer shipped from Florida, none of the carriers I talked to would even consider a shipment of less than 1200 lbs. and for more $$ than I have in the washer piggy bank.   What are my shipping options and what would be a fair bid.  Thanks

Shipping options

The cost of shipping went through the roof a few years ago when gas prices surged, however when the price of gas came back down again, shipping was still very expensive.

There are a few options that may work for you.  Craters and Freighters can handle the shipment entirely but can be expensive.  YouCrate is another option, but still a bit pricey.  A lot of folks here, myself included, have used the UShip system.  You create a request for shipment and what you are willing to pay, then folks who are willing to do the job contact you.   This has worked well for me in the past and as a result, I made contact with a shipper who has moved several machines for me and for a reasonable cost.

Of course, the best possible solution is if you can move the item yourself - and you'd be surprised what you can move in a station wagon or van!

Shipping has become ridiculously priced. Borrow a pick up truck or a van and do an overnight run. When I did it I stayed in a nice new Hampton Inn, had a nice dinner at the Carraba's across the parking lot and enjoyed the hotel's breakfast buffet, and had an easy drive home---------all for a fraction of what the shipping would have cost. You just need the vehicle and the time.

it's not sickening at all...

the result of that auction, some 3 1/2 years ago now, was that the vintage FD machines ended up in the hands of collectors and those that appreciate them, instead of going to the scrapper, which is exactly what Hans did with the ones that didn't sell. I myself was sad not to be able get the Poppy Red 30" FD range there, but you can't save them all. Don't know why he doesn't revise the website, he's a bit of a quirky guy, but if you can bid your time one will turn up within a reasonable distance at some point.

one shipping option.

If you're remotely interested, go get' em!  You probably won't see another set. Nothing like years of regret for not trying, or years of "what if's".....

1963 Frigidaire washer/Dryer set

Hey guys,  I have tried to make an offer on the Frigidaire set but keep getting kicked out because it says that my PayPal and E-Bay accounts are not connected to each other.  What's up with that?  I do not understand.  I have a PayPal and E-Bay account but how to connect?

Tommy, when I look at my account preferences in eBay it shows my paypal and ebay accounts are linked.  There is a button I can click to unlink, so I'm sure there is some button in there to click and link.  On my paypal account settings page under automatic payments it shows ebay and a couple of other things I've used it for.  You may be able to link from either site but I'm not sure.

Frigidaire washer

Ok.  I am linked with paypal and ebay.  Have you seen this set advertised?  If so, what would be a fair price to offer.  I will be traveling from AL to Michigan.  Have never bid on  anything before, so need some help/advice.

Expensive Shipping

U-Ship tightened things up years ago now which has had both good and bad results.

Good thing is that many of the fly by night Johnnies are gone, leaving more reliable shippers. OTOH many shippers dropped out of using U-ship because of all the new rules, regulations and so forth.

Other maddening problem with U-ship is there may not always be someone going to or in area where merchandise is located that will make the delivery. It can take sometimes a few weeks/listing attempts to finally lock down a shipper who seems reliable enough that will also do the job for a reasonable price. I lost out on that AEG in Detroit because was slow in getting my act together with U-ship.

There is another thing; above advice about going to fetch items yourself is probably best. Some sellers aren't willing to wait weeks or months for a buyer to get his or her act together with a shipper. One suspects that is why that abovem mentioned Frigidaire set is back in play.

Linked eBay and PayPal accounts:

A few years ago now when eBay sold off/split with PayPal one had to "opt in" to make or continue using Paypal with fleaPay. Sort of like things were ages ago before eBay bought Paypal in first place.
