Well, well...It appears Frigidaire is already bailing on the Immersion Care wash system, in which the tub and impeller spin together. Here's a look at their forthcoming, redesigned laundry center with a traditional, independent impeller. Wow, did I just use the phrase 'traditional impeller'?

It sports a 4-cubic ft. tub. Unfortunately, the dryer drum is the old 5.5 cu. ft. model. I could barely fit a full load from the 2.9 cu. ft. washer into that thing.

Wonder if the new impeller/tub configuration will show up in their regular line, as well?

I wonder if Electrolux will add an HE top loader to their line-up. Clearly, the Immersion Care technology was nothing Electrolux would have liked to have in its range, which seems, all in all, more targeted towards the upper end of the scale.

There's more information if you follow the link:

Frigilux,  Yes.  I think it will show up in the regular line up, i bet it uses a new  "cost effective" suspension system.

"Bye-Bye Immersion Care!"

I noticed that, too.

The site says it a prototype, could this be a mock-up for a new color introduction or the real deal?

Frigidaire does offer a top-load agitator washer model in the U.S.  with a stainless tub that could be an impeller washer by swapping out the long-post agitator with an impeller similar to one pictured in the story.  I saw this model a couple of weeks ago at the appliance mart here, very closely resembled offerings like we've seen in the Brazilian market.

My guess would be that Electrolux is going to no longer make a top-loading design unique to the U.S. market ( Bye-Bye Immersion Care :-) and homogenize the top-loading models with others currently in production in their global realm.

Lol - perhaps Australian then.  Just reminded me of some of the videos I've watched of these machines.  It would be interesting to know what Elux's plans are for the top-loading markets here.

Seeing this machine in person the other day, it seemed like there was a smallish tub assembly in a huge American sized cabinet.
