Was Cook the co. that made the large diameter drum coin op they always built in, at the back of coin op stores,in the 1970's IIRC they were very wide diameter, but very narrow front to back. So it was cook aldwash, was this a westinghouse commercial product? thanks. alr2903

Thanks for posting; the Cook Aldwash machine sure is cool...especially those old-school controls and gauges. And that looks like a a vintage Wascomat sitting next to it on the right. I also see an early-90's White-Westinghouse-made Kenmore "Dual Tumble" washer on the far right hand side; interesting.

How long ago was this taken, and where? Are these machines still in service?

Cook was not connected with Westinghouse . They made equiptment in Dallas from 1938 to 1975 The had Cook Aldry dryers that were in many coin stores. Big bulky dryers that dried good . Also had a division called Meter All that made coin accept equipt, for coin ops.

The Pic was taken in 93 , All equiptment was in operation until 98 . It was in a small commerical laundry in Cleburne Texas that did work for 2 small motels. I bought the laundry out in 98 and had planned to move all the equiptment to the main plant here . However about 2 days before all was compleated a fire in a barn about 1/2 block away started and destroyed everything on the block. I was just sick for several weeks. We still do the work for both the motels though. The Wascomat was a neat little machine too. It made a nice whine when starting into spin. It was one of the old Extracta Matic series . I was amazed that it was ever used in a coin op , I was told it started out in a laundry in Glen Rose , Texas and was there about 25 years. Take that you new modern machines.....
