FS: KitchenAid Imperial Duo Cycle KDI-15

Hello All,

I have a vintage KitchenAid Dishwasher in full working order For Sale.

Dishwasher came with the house i just bought. I have powered on the machine and have seen it wash and dry. We haven't used it because i do not want to break it so we have been just hand washing our dishes. Comes with both top and bottom racks and no tines seem to be broken. Soap tray opens ans closes and latch does its job. PUsh button operation is normal and light does illuminate.

Nice vintage machine that will need a little cleaning but seems to be all there. The ladies i purchased the house with were very meticulous with their belongings and im sure this machine was well cared for.

I will accept any reasonable offer as I am currently remodeling my kitchen to a more modern minimalist style and this style machine will not go. especially the brown color!

That sure is a nice looking machine. Pretty sure you won't have any problem finding someone willing to buy that machine from you. The key to that machine since it's a one arm wonder is knowing how to load it properly so you don't block the washarm's coverage.

Anyhow, good luck with your remodel. Would be great if you could post a couple of pics of what you have currently and what you are going to convert it to.

I always wonder how Hobart came up with those names. "Imperial DuaCycle". Superba, Regency, Patrician, etc.

 

That is a great machine.  I hope some one will grab that. You'll know when that machine is running. And everything will be washed and dried in 45 minutes or so.

Not all original,but an improvement, none the less!

Looks like the original racks were replaced with racks from a 16 or 17 series machine as the 15's did not have the adjustable rack on top as shown and the bottom rack had tines that went all the way back to the rear of the rack. The drop down tines came out on later models.

Also, those of us with OCD will advise that the coarse strainer is upside down. When installed properly, it sits flat on the bottom of the tank.

It will clean as well as a Superba as long as the incoming water is at least 140 degrees but lacks the heating element of the Superba and lacks the Sani-Cycle option.

As long as it is a new American made [ and Union built ] Kitchenaid you can't go wrong.

How about..

Any of the Whirlpool built brands like WP, Maytag, Jennair or Amana. Sometimes you can get almost the same features as KA but for a lower price.
What do you think, Dr. J?

Hey all, the machine was replaced with another American Made Whirlpool unit. I wish I could keep it and make her new again but as it stands i already have too many Hobbies. Would be really cool to make a while retro kitchen in my Basement/garage

I wouldnt trade

A vintage real Hobart built Kitchen Aid for 3 new machines of any brand, It will wash 3 loads CLEAN and DRY in the time it takes to wash 1 load in a new dw.

The Hobart's do a great job! I'm really impressed with mine. I'm actually still getting used to it taking LESS time to wash. That's good though because when it's finished I like to open the door to let the steam escape. It makes a big difference on the drying performance. When I empty it in the morning there's very very little water left on anything, if at all. If I don't open it, there's a lot more water left on items. I never did that with my Frigidaire...it probably would have helped drying performance.

Crazy! That's the exact same KA dw my grandparents had for decades.
It came with and went with their first house they bought and sold.
Old as hell. Still ran. Had I guess ONE repair if I remember.
My aunt and I then did 1 more repair on the dried and cracked door seal before their house went for sale.
That thing ROARED enough to wake the dead! Very fast too.
As long as there wasn't too much soil on the load, that thing cleaned quite well. Bottom and top.

Top Rack

Oh yes, that's definitely not the original rack my grandparents had in their machine. It was a very oddly shaped, high arc rack that basically hugged the plates down below.
It was definitely designed to have flat items on the bottom only. Anything concave had to be up top.

That looks like the rack from a Superba 15 series.

I don't think the Imperial had the Fold Down tines. The Custom 15 series had a more flat type rack.

And I could be wrong. The 60 year old Brain.
