I've seen a black one - in John Lewis. Looked surprisingly smart for a Hotpoint, I had to do a double take to see what it was! I don't know if it was actually for sale or if it was an attention grabbing display item, but if that's what it was then it worked :)

Going

I see you "GREAT Britainers" have finally decided to market a larger-size capacity washer. Is it that utilities and water are coming down in price across the Pond, or are people getting wiser to actually SAVING by doing larger and fewer laods? I am interested in knowing. I also relish the thought of having some "current-formula" British Ariel and Persil Liquids to use here. I have Turkish Ariel Color powder with 15%-30% phosphates, but NO bio action. I just add a Spray-n-Wash tab or a mini-cap of SnW liquid enzyme booster. Do the powders out there still contain my beloved phosphates? Jason

Going "Queen-Size"?

Hi Jason, i must admit, i didnt buy the large capacity machine for economy reasons... i still just as happy to wash one or 20 items in one cycle - unlike the majority of American Washers, the European ones have load sensors so the water intake and subsequent energy usage are modified depending on what is in the drum..... Although would really love a huge American Style Whirlpool Duet!!

I love the look of that machine! It's got hints of the classic slant-front westinghouse machines in it's styling, especially with that round window with the logo in the middle, the two round dials, and the sort of comet shaped gray section between the door and the top!

Hi Rich....

no i have not found out yet - there is yet more water in the drum this morning yet it had been off all day. i dont want it repaired, i want a new one as it is only a couple of months old!

Speak to the shop that you bought it from and request a refund or replacement under Sales of Goods Act.

Having said that, check by turning off the water tap to see if it is that or if it's coming in by syphoning through the drain. The Ariston washer-dryer I inherited with the house used to syphon water back in from the sink occasionally, though no idea if that was plumbing or the machine - the current machine has never done it though.

i will be calling Hotpoint in the morning, and request that they remove the machine pronto. Then its just a case of deciding what to go for instead. I want something that looks great, and is quiet....
