Does anyone have a picture or any information about a G.E.C. (English General Electric) front loader fully automatic that was sold in South Africa in the early seventies. It was a tall narrow machine with blue/turquoise control panel. G.E.C. appliances were fairly common here in the 60s and 70s but I can find no information about them on the internet whatsoever. I have a feeling that the washer may have been manufactured by Hotpoint in the UK but I may be wrong.

English Electric

I am wondering if it was a re-badged version of the English Electric Reversomat. In this picture the fascia looks black but I am pretty sure earlier versions were Turquoise. I had forgotten about any GEC linkup, but this comes from a brochure I have noted as "GEC Home Laundry" fearuring Hotpoint, EE and Morphy Richards Appliances.

And yes, it is based on a Westinghouse design. The model shown by Gizmo above was a slightly later Hotpoint, when this range was introduced it replaced both the preceeding Hotpoint & EE front loaders.
