G.E. dishwashers Pureclean wash?

What has happned to G.E. dishwashers?The Brilliant clean 6 level wash did pretty good and now all I see are the Pureclean ones.Has anybody used a Pureclean mod? did they do away with the disposer on it sense it now seems to have a STUPID twist filter.My Aunt called me and her old Tappan went out and I told her that she could still get the Whirlpool Powerclean washer well they told her NO at Homedepot and Lowes because its not a energy star dishwasher and they can't even order one.I think there trying to pull a fast one on her because they were steering her to the 1200 dollar Kitchenaids.So has the axe finally fell on good washer's?The G.E. Brilliant clean was a energy star model right?

Can't

speak to the GE, but the industry is required to comply with government rules & regs regarding water and energy consumption. Effective last August, machines could use no more than 6 gallons on the Normal cycle.

Hence, new wash systems and models have been introduced & others discontinued.

Wes, ya scared the heck out of me. The ONLY GE model I know that has the filter is the one that's made in China and is the ADA-compliant model. I looked on the GE web site and the upper end models all ahve 5-stage filtration BUT also have the pirranah hard food disposer. The 4 online manuals/models I looked at didn't mention a filter having to be removed for cleaning, but I have seen the manual for that particular model with the filter and knew what to lo0ok for.

This is NUTS! oh well time to start running a cold and hot water line to my dishwashers if i have to and G.E. I have two new motors/Pumps and a whole bunch of other parts for them that I got at a appliance place that was selling boxes of junk for 20 bucks.I will add me another pump just for the top arms and if I want to use a swimming pool full of water to do it so what, the water does not vanish like gas.These tree hugger's I do and don't get, most of the time I don't(No offense folks there was enough bickering in the creepy post).Driving around in a huge Suburban when your single and have no use for the space/towing well that don't make sense to me but a dishwasher using one gallon less and taking all the good detergents off on top of that is crazy.What it will do is make folks buy more dishwashers because they run for hours and hours then they go to the landfill in 3 or 5 years.I think everybody in here knows that no dishwasher is as good as the old ones about lasting.

What's the use of a food disposer if the dishwasher has a five-step filtration system?

No more than six gallons per cycle? How about two gallons, then?

sometimes new is better than old

my syster replaced her self-destroying zanussi (reg. tub) with a tall tub miele. Basically she went miele cause it is the shortest tall tub available in europe. BSH and Electrolux tall tubs would not fit in that niche

I was rather skeptic about its water frugality : 11 litres for a W-R-R sequence ... the same amount our stoneage miele used per fill

Anyway the truth day came : a full load soiled of dumplings, potato purèe and polenta. Polenta is corn flour stirred in boiling water and cooked forever, then served with game Basically is true glue, a dishwasher's nightmare

The stored Bauknecht(Whirlpool) in this very situaton would spread thousands of little starch grains over the glasses and leave dryed on polenta on plates because of its anaemic pump.

To my big surprise the new miele cleaned everything, even the dryed-on polenta. Neither a single starch grain

None of the machines I have ever used is able to manage dryed on polenta, included the mid-seventies miele.

Also the quietness is amazing : go figure the gas burners sound coming from the hob is "louder".

Next time I'll go there I'll take some shots

Anyway I think that 6 gallons is an awful lot of water, my machine does an outstanding job with 13 litres (3,4 gallons) per wash (W-R-R) like your sister's that it's even more frugal!

yes Gabriele,

the Bau-schlecht is the worst DW i have ever used.
The previous Philips (that was a true Bauknecht-made machine, not a Whirlpool) washed as well as Miele and Zanussi and lasted 15 years. The only good point is its quiteness

At least the Zanussi washes as well as the miele (when not torn in pieces, anyway it does scream .... )
