I think it might be the detergent's one thing that really bugs me is on the Sana cycle it will fill and was for not even a minute then drains all the way.I think it is the Phosphorus or lack there of that is really giving me a problem.My Mom is a professional botanist and I got some of her phosphates even looks like detergent the blue crystals in cascade and that does seem to help but its not the pure S.T.T.P. I am still torn and have not made my mind up yet.The Brilliant clean dishwasher with the same motor and was arms with huge holes could clean very good.This one is different and I am wondering how the filtration works on this machine.I am wondering when they redid the arms does it force more water through the filter sense like power water will flow through the path of least resistance.It does wash better with the STTP in it and adding jet dry and turned it up to about 4 because here in Tenn our water is VERY hard I pulled out one bowl with something on it but that was it.

from the white spots, streaks and film on the dishwasher tub and spray arms, it looks like you've got some seriously hard water. Surely, that is compromising the effectiveness of your machine.

That uses the same filter system as the other GE TT machines. The reason behind the smaller holes was to get more water force. The previous design with the large holes could not even remove watermelon seeds from plates or peanut butter from the jar.

This machine still has the 'basket' in the sump that prevents the food from even reaching the grinder. When it goes to drain all the food is then sucked thru the drain pump. The early design of this model had a built in high loop tube that would clog all the time. They since removed that.

Every week we get calls about these not cleaning or draining. 99% of the time it is from the basket being clogged with food things and slime. The drain pump is usually blocked by a piece of plastic, foil bottle seal or broken glass.

The machine might actually be able to remove food from dishes now. But like most of the machines today, you need to scrape the dishes thoroughly. Yes, it does have a grinder, they are not lying about that. But the food will never see it.

Wes- You already have mineral deposits in the d/w. Increase the amount of detergent and add phosphate.

I will say I'm impressed with the large quantity of white stuff on the wash arm. LOL

L.O.L. ,,, Yea well I filled the main wash cups then used some palm eco but just slung it in there,it does look vulgar..L.O.L. Well I have heard the machine grind stuff I threw in a cup of cat food to see if it could handle that and it did just fine.I do not pre rinse EVER I barely scrape food off food I take it from the table and shake it in the sink and plop it in.With my old Power clean I could throw in a whole plate of food and everything and it would be gone,but those days are over with these new water usage limits and the crap detergent.I have a feeling I will exchange it cause I am not going to spend this much on a machine and not like it..I am a control freak and that is one thing about Whirlpool's is they have much more wash options and would wash a whole lot longer,with that Soak and scour and the jets in the back of the tub.I don't care if it takes 4 hours to wash as long as it will clean.My Kenmore power clean even though it held less dishes I could fit more in it cause you could cram in it and it would still clean them.There is a learning curve to a new machine but the deep clean cycle washes 140 minutes.I do like the L.G. machines and Samsung but I have heard bad things about Samsung more than L.G.. God I wish that Bosch and Miele had a food grinder cause I know I would be emptying that filter every day. I know with the Maytag/Whirlpool not to dump a lot of food in it but I also know how to fix them and keep that grinder pump inlet clean.I won't even consider a Frigidaire so I don't have much of a choice now about brands

Here is what I don't understand. Manufactures KNOWING how Americans have been used to throwing dirty dishwashers in and everything coming out spotless; with these new machines you end up with LOTS of disappointed customers because the machine has to be "babied" to be able to clean. Don't they worry what ratings their product will get, thus harming their reputation and sales? Don't they test in all conditions? Filthy dishes/hard water etc? People are getting these beautiful machines and they are not cleaning worth a crap.

Our Bosch has plenty of pressure - the lower wash arm throws water all the way to the top where is splashes off the tub's ceiling. But, yes, you have to remove excess food waste from dishes:

Recalling the article touting against prerinsing that was linked in a recent post, and how many John Q. Publics commented at the source of the article that they do prerinse and were aghast at the idea of not doing so ... I'd bet there's less of a problem that you'd expect.

Wes you can still get the Power Clean in a Kenmore version. The last time I checked for a customer there was only white available. Maybe different where you are.

It really is less of a problem then you think. It does not matter what I am in someones house to fix, I ask them if they pre-rinse the dishes or not.
80% pre rinse, 15% scrape and 5% just load the dishes. Those that load the dishes dirty are the ones who usually have children and let them load the dishes or have a very busy life.
Those that pre-rinse are under the impression that you must still do so to get clean dishes.

Most of our calls come from the ones who don't scrape or the ones who pre-rinse. Either to unclog the machine or because something has failed from the detergent eating it. Of course we also get a lot of calls from people who use too little detergent but that is a different story.

Thanks Jay I now know what you are talking about.What in the hell did they do to these dishwashers?What is the point to have a grinder in the machine after that metal basket/filter and them taking the grater plate off the main pump.They should have put the grinder in the drain pump part of it this make no sense at all.I took it apart and this thing will be clogging up on me all the time. I will have to pre rinse everything then with my water being so hard on top of all of this I am in for some real problems.I have a New G.E. pump the same motor and everything but with the grater and it has a big blade on it could I take out that filter thing and then the machine will grind up the food I would have to put in different wash arms .If I knew this I would have got a Miele cause at least you can remove the filter's in it. I think they left that in there just so they can say it has a grinder in it but no food will ever touch it. Well I have work to do I am going to look at some other dishwasher's..Thanks for everything Wes I bet you get calls after calls on these....

Wes why don't you go buy one of the KM dishwashers while they are still available ? they are only a little over $ 300 why make life any harder than it is.

Well I went out today to Walgreen's and found a box of Cascade with Dawn that has Phosphates and damn what a difference.This is powder its not the Gel packs but they had a bunch of them in the back but not Cascade complete.They had the Dawn Gel packs and the powder but 7 bucks for 15 washes but with our hard water I don't think one would work so I paid 7 bucks for a good size box.The dishes came out spotless save for one but that was my fault.This box says 6% Phosphorus and Cascade complete had like 8.5% or something like that.I had the dishwasher stuffed also to the rim and they came clean.That one chemical makes such a HUGE difference.I really don't want to exchange it if it's just cause the detergent.

Big Lots has the Cascade Complete with Bleach Hydro Clean phosphated for 6 bucks, large size. It is superior.

Or Classic Dishwasher detergent?
Your GE that you found will give you lot's to talk and preach about, and might sometimes clean your gunk.
You seem to be always on the fence....
