I am not offended at all folks cause well I would LOVE to have a good old Kitchen aid in there, I am not sure that this new wash system works as good as the Brilliant clean system.I am not sure if it is cause by these new detergent's or if it's cause this dishwasher will chose it's on cycle sometimes at will.With the Brilliant clean dishwasher I could throw everything in it and it came clean but now well I do have to space the dishes some unlike the others..Does anybody have a repair manual that details the wash system and how it works.This one is different if I put spinach in it you wont find a spec of it on another dish so the filter set up is different it has to be cause the holes are SOOO small in the arms. I am thinking about putting in the older wash arms in it and see if that changes anything.This dishwasher does clean silverware better than any I have ever had it will remove dried eggs and oatmeal something I have never seen even in my now dead Kenmore power clean..I have 9 days left to exchange it is there any good detergents cause Cascade sucks now BAD.Is Shaklee any good there has to be something cause I just don't understand why this one with the same motor and all seems to not clean as well as the brilliant clean?I am going to post some pics when I go get some batteries..I kinda wonder if that steam part the only way for it to do a Pots and Pans settings another thing that bugs me.I wonder if the steam bakes the stuff on..Anybody have any advice and if somebody knows where I can get a PDF manual that would be great...

Before returning the dishwasher, I'd try to find some dishwasher detergent that still has phosphates in it, and see if that makes it clean acceptably. You can often find older versions of Cascade at the back of store shelves, if the stock hasn't been rotated. New Cascade will all say "phosphate free" somewhere on the front, so it's easy to tell which is which.

I've recently been able to find phosphated Cascade at Kroger, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and Meijer, but not at every store in those chains.

You can also buy Finish Glass Magic, which contains phosphates, and add some to your non-phosphated detergent.

Another source of phosphates is sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP), which you can buy online, and then add it to non-phosphated detergent.

I was unhappy with the cleaning ability of our new Kenmore dishwasher, until I discovered I was using new Cascade without phosphates. Once I added phosphates to the detergent, it cleaned just fine.

Learning Curve

As with all dishwashers, there is a learning curve when migrating to a new machine. That being said, I had impressive results using the Finish tabs with power ball in my previous Bosch machine. You might want to grab a box of those and give them a try. The big benefit to the tabs, for me anyway, was being able to look in the box and know how many wash loads I had left in the carton. I always hate trying to get the last bit of gel out of a bottle. HATE IT! I am currently using Cascade Complete Powder. Measuring just a tablespoon per load.

Finish Poweball formerly Electrasol Powertabs.

I am with Malcolm, I also found success with Finish powerball tabs, I use two, one in the prewash cup, and one in the reg det cup. I use the Heavy duty cycle, heat boost and everything comes out clean, I don't prerinse, and I hate washing dishes, so everything goes in the diswasher which by the way is a one year old BOL KitchenAid w/stainless steel int.

You definitely need two tablets. Or at the very least, if your dishes are pre-rinsed or you have soft water you can cut the tablet in half, stick one half in the main wash compartment and throw the other half in the tank.

The pre-rinse is where all the muck, grease, oils and solids start to soften and dissolve. Without that detergent it will build up in the dishwasher and/or you will have dirty dishes at the end of the cycle. It's like washing your hair without shampoo or a shower without soap.

Without enough detergent and hot water you'll get that gunky build up on the lip of the door and tank where they meet at the bottom.

That manual is for the non pureclean models. That is the same one I've had...twice.
