Although a dishwasher owner's manual will advise against using the machine for any other purposes other than those for which it was intended, I've always wanted a dishwasher for utility use. Because of its size, an old GE bowtie impeller Mobile Maid, would have been perfect. Washing filters, hand tools, machinery parts, baseball caps, golf balls, lampshades, fake plants, and, well you get the idea. For me, I'd even use it for sanitizing cleaned litter boxes.

What they said

I've been using two GE Mobile Maid TL dishwashers for exactly these purposes. Absolutely great for trash cans, some tools, lawnmower parts and anything else that I want really clean but nowhere near the things that carry and/or serve food. I prefer machines where I can shut off the heating unit during the dry cycle. KitchenAid FL's are great for this.

Outdoor or second dishwashers

I have a top loading KitchenAid portable dishwasher, which is great for these large things. I put the electric static filters from the furnace in them a couple times a year other large things you can take the top racks out and really set large things in there.

Depending on what type of stuff you wanna wash in there you're better off with a KitchenAid or possibly an early whirlpool where you can get to the filter, Maytag reverse rack machines have a micro mesh filter, which gets clogged up and is difficult to clean if you get carried away, putting stuff in the machine. We tried to use a Maytag top load portable dishwasher for quite a few years to wash bulky refrigerator and appliance parts in but the micro mesh filter would get clogged up after a while and you'd have to take it apart to clean it.

"Random Subjects" dishwasher

I call mine "random subjects", a top load GE Mobile Maid.

Soon I'll retire my Kenmore portable from the kitchen and it will become the new "random Subject dishwasher. (New TOL Bosch or Miele in the Kitchen)

From toilet seat to dogs pee tray to vacuum cleaner parts, washer and dryer filters, etc.

I have Ken Roar!

It is an early 2000s Kenmore made by GE/Hotpoint that one sees in rentals.  It does ROAR!

I have used it for barbeque parts, roasters, broiler pan, drywall tools, other tools, and used it for dishes earlier but not anymore.

Chet, I think you would love him.
