Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Both types have their good and bad points, let's look at some of the advantages of electic cooking:

If you live where it gets hot in the summertime, an electric oven is a lot cooler to run since there is no fire that needs a constant supply of oxygen. The walls stay cleaner too.

Making rice? No bending over to try and get the flame the same size as it was last time, just put the burner on "low" and walk away.

Both forms of energy have their advantages and disadvanages.
I am lucky enough to have space for two stoves. So I have one of each in this kitchen.

I installed the gas line and the electric line and outlet / power-point myself.

Here, I am boil-washing a kettle of whites.

If I had my way....

I'd have a morph of the Frigidaire Flair and my Tappan gas Fabulous 400, with the gas burners, and the electric ovens. Best of both worlds, in my opinion, in one stylish package.

And I'd give the burners a little more oomph.

But I have to say: My, it was nice when the power was out to still have the stove working. I made some nice oatmeal cookies and a pot of coffee, and was snug and cozy.

Then again, in the summer it gets damn hot in the kitchen with the gas stove.

I love gas for cooktop cooking. But I have an electric fuzzy logic rice cooker for rice. It's automatic. Isn't that what this place is all about?

Also have an electric wall oven for baking, which is nice for stuff like cookies, bread, pizza. For roasting meats, I use an outdoor gas rotisserie bbq. The cooking odors largely stay outside.

Dan:

My "Dream " cooker~

a mid-century 40 incher (1 meter) with two ovens. Make the let one electirc, gas on right. I'd remove the gas grill/griddle from between the four top gas burners, and add two induction elements. F A B U L O U S

Oh, the Welbilt brand model I see in my mind's eye already has an electric broiler (open coils) at the top of the left-side oven. Two calrods [tubular sealed heating elements] top and bottom, and we're cookin'!

The second reminds me of what toggs whanted for his gassy neighbors!

Would love two stoves in my kitchen..
FYI: Your're stove looks like the one i broke

OK you guys are slipping.

The gas cut-off valve (red) to the left of my stove is in the closed position and no one questioned it / TSK TSK TSK I'm very disappointed!

Actually that is the cut-off valve for a gas cooker that woeudl sit to the right (currently electric).

The cut-off valve for the gas cooker pictured is further down.
(Like a turn signal up is right, down is left :-O)

Would never have paid it two seconds attention.. LoL... We don't have many gas powered things here, although the salvation army and habitat always have a few of those dryers in stock.. unless i whip up some yellow beans and rice or mexican for dinner one night, or even cabbage than ya need the air freshner... Phewwwwwwww
