Every time I see a 40” in yellow, they always have 3 small burners and 1 large. I had a yellow 40” several years ago, but sold it because I knew I needed 2 large burners. I wonder if all the yellow 40s were that way.
This looks like a 36 inch wide range, but maybe it's 40. Most of the GEs that I have seen like this were 3 and 1. 40 inch wide ranges were usually 2 and 2 while the less expensive models were often 3 and 1. Maybe it's a bol 40" range, but it looks like one a neighbor had that was a 36.

36" GE Range
My first electric range that I cooked on a lot had 2 large and 2 small burners, I always wished it had 3 small burners as there was almost never need to two large burners.

I do a lot of canning so 2 large burners are a must. Back in the day many women canned so I guess they either bought a different stove or made do.
