Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Notice at 5:16 that the coffee maker placed in the group of appliances does not look like the immersible one, but looks more like the oval stainless steel perk. We had the immersible one and for years washed it in the 15 series KA.

I remember these ads during the annual showing of Rudolph... but also perhaps even more memorable... the "Noelco" (Norelco) ads!

Those commercials are really very nice. It makes me realize of how long ago 1964 really was and how perhaps as a teenager I didn't appreciate the moment...parents, relatives and friends all alive and well, not waking up in the morning and creaking like an old wooden ship, and the biggest worry you had was getting your homework assignments done. It's also interesting to note, at least in my opinion, how gift "tastes" change. I think that today many people would turn their nose up after unwrapping a can opener or an iron on Christmas morning. My older brother just bought his 2 year old granddaughter a new iPad...crazy in my opinion.

Ah, The 60's.

This was fun to watch, and sure brought back quite a few memories. My sister had the same hair dryer (but in a plain case instead of the decorative one that was shown) We also had the electric knife and iron (If I remember correctly, the knife we had was 2 speeds).

Why aren't commercials made like this anymore?

Two other things...Alan Ludden was the host of "GE College Bowl" from 1959-1962, and replaced by Robert Earle for the rest of the time it was on.

And Jeff, I remember both black and white and color versions of the Norelco (Noelco, with the two dots over the E) shaver commercials.

Ain't that the truth. Most people expect an Iphone, Ipad or Droid these days. As they would put it "something I could use and not have to pay for myself".

I remember those black handled GE Steam irons. My mother had one, I had one I think those were umbitquitous until they lowered the max temp for irons. They were everywhere!

Boy, GE really DID make almost everything in the way of appliances. We used to buy GE Christmas Tree lights until the mid 70's then we started to buy NONA lights. The quality of those wasn't the same a the GE's.

Loved the shoe polisher. Especially what appears to be the father using one while dressed in a sweater, dress shirt & tie. But I guess the purpose of dressing him like that is to give a hint of wealth and the indication "this is what people who are well off use.".

LOL... I didn't know which of the commercials were black & white and which were color... because we never had a color tv until my parents bought one the year that I moved out to college... funny, they got thier first new car in a zillion years the same time... But back to the color, it was fun to see the peacock in the Rudolph clip above, even though we didn't have color, I remember the clip so well as it preceded the new color programs! Fun memories... before VCRs and DVDs, let alone iPods and iPads and smartphones made these available any time anywhere on demand!
